I have an Epox K7VTA3 and have been trying to get 96000XT set up and all I get is a black screen
when I power up after installing the 96000XT. I have formatted the drive and reinstalled XP Pro but,
all I get is a black screen. I tried to load latest via Hyperion 4 in 1 drivers with no help. Does this board
need to be replaced with a newer one, or how can I get this board to work?

Hmmm...it could be a number of things. You're getting the black screen in everything right? Meaning BIOS, DOS, and Windows? If it's just Windows, it's likely just a configuration issue in which case you probably won't need to RMA your card. If it's happening everywhere though, these are the likely possibilities:

-your cables aren't attached properly (try plugging it into each of the two ports; if you're using a VGA cable, use the adapter to hook it up to DVI)
-your BIOS is not configured to initiate AGP as your primary videocard (what graphics card did you have before? was it AGP?)
-the card is not seated properly (does your computer post? as in, does it "beep" a few seconds after you press the power button?)
-your card is defective

If it's just Windows, things could get complicated. VIA has got to have the worst AGP drivers on earth. You should maybe try some VIA or ATi message boards to see what you need to do. There may be a specific driver set that you need from VIA in order to get things working. Depending on how old your motherboard is, you may be able to get away with installing XP and service pack 1 and just using the default Windows drivers.

Good luck, and less us know what you've tried.

Ihave loaded XPpro service pack1,the Hyperion 4 in 1 Drivers, and it workd fine with the previous ATI
card. I returned the 96000XT and got a new one but still have same problem. When I turn on the system,
nothing,no POST , no beeps, nothing but a black screen.
I'm wondering if the motherboard an Epox K7VTA3 is the problem or if it needs a bios update, currently
8.0C. Any Ideas?

It's either your motherboard or your power supply. Do your fans spin up at all when you push power? Or is the system completely dead? My guess is that you didn't have everything seated properly when you installed the 9600 the first time, and you somehow shorted out your motherboard. Either that or your PSU simply wasn't up to the task of running a 9600. It's more than likely the PSU though.

Have you tried resetting the bios? Use the jumper on the motherboard, or on some you can hold down the Insert key while you turn on power.

If you wanna test the power supply just remove power to all the other devices and see if you can post. If it doesnt, I think it may be alright to look elsewhere.
