Alright I bougt this card used and he said he had some problems with it, so I simply took some peices out of the fan and I guess it just did'nt spin, now my question is that can I put Artic Silver 5 on there? It's got a fan but the thermal greece on there looks old. Also should I clean it off first with some alcohol?

Thanks again!

Yes, use some 90% or greater purity Isopropyl Alcohol (found at any supermarket) with some kind of lint-less soft cotton. Go over it a few times to make sure you get all the old stuff off.

You need a fan.
If the fan does not spin, you need to get another or find a way to fix it.
Arctic silver is not going to fix the fan!

If the fan works and you want to use arctic silver, you have to clean the old thermal compound completely. You should use isopropyl alcohol to clean the chip and the heat sink. After cleaning with alcohol, do not touch them. Use very small amount of arctic silver.

Follow the instructions here.

I use a cloth they gave me at lenscrafters for my glassses (completly lint free) and asetone. That's what I recomend.
