955DF owners. How to enable higher refresh rates?

I want to run 1600x12000@85Hz. This is what I bought the monitor for and it's only doing a bloody miserable 60HZ.

Any ideas as how to get it to 85Hz?

Thanks,
Paul

is the monitor listed in device manager? have you installed drivers for it? you have to go into display properties...then click on advanced...then click on the monitor tab and it should let you change the refresh rate there.

if it come down to it, change the monitor to "default 1600x1200 @85hz" or the closest thing to it, and then you should see a menu for refresh rates show up

Yes is is listed correctly in device manager. I know how to change refresh rates, but the Samsung only displays three refresh rates in the pull down menu. Adapter Default, Optimal, and 60Hz.

I just want to know how to get to 85Hz.

I own the Samsung 955DF and I know that the the 1600x1200 refresh rate is 68Hz. You did not know of this when you bought the monitor? Personally, I don't have any complaints about the low refresh rates compared to other monitors, it's not noticeable to me. Check here if you don't believe me: Samsung Monitors I absolutely love this monitor especially since the price is so great. I got mine for about $200 even with shipping and handling figured in:)

I also have this monitor, and it doesn't go to 85Hz at 1600 x 1200. But, IMHO, that res makes things too small. I'm using 1280 x 1024 at 75Hz. This seems to be a pretty nice "sweet spot" for this monitor.

You can actually "overclock" your monitor....heheh :)

Just use Powerstrip or any similar program.

But then again, you run the risk of reducing the life of your monitor. I once ran a 17" monitor at 1024x768 @ 100hz when it was only rated at 85.

I don't recommend doing this, so don't come running to me with a dead 21" Sony ;)

LOL...I wouldn't be surprised. I've heard of a program to overclock your ps/2 port so that it's refresh rate is faster to make your mouse more sensitive.

Get into your monitor's menu system and look for what vertical frequency it's running on. That will tell you. You're not trying to run 1600x1200@100mhz, are you?
