I currently have a dual celery 366 setup on a abit bp6 o/c to 550. Can I just buy 2 of these celery 633s and have a dual 950 setup? I wouldn't need any adapters(not slokets) would I?

Matrixxx,

Here's the WCPUID printout on my BH6 v.1.0. It's for the Celeron 633 which overclocks easily and smoothly to 950 or 980. Even though the mb doesn't read the speed right, it's working great. PS I flashed to the latest SS bios first.

Yep!
Voltage may be an issue, but you should be able to work through it.
check www.bp6.com
My BP6 just fried and I'm just replacing it with this single CPU set up.

IF I can find a coupon for Oncvia/buy.com

hey Android,

are you listing a Pentium 3 from your WCPUID or what??

Didn't you say that you had a Celeron 633?? if so, then how do you have that multiplier of 5.5?? Shouldn't it be 9.5 for a celeron 633?

Also, that is a pretty high bus speed of 173, hehe

just wondering, that's all...

I apologize... I keep forgetting about these CII's and their damn no SMP code... STUPID Intel!

Ok, so here is the question:

Do I keep my dual celeron 550 setup with smp capabilities or do I purchase the o/c'd 950mhz celery 2 setup(1 cpu) w/o smp capabilities?

I currently dual boot Win98 and Win2k. I mainly use this system for gaming. Will I see much of a performance increase if I upgrade(or downgrade depending how you look at it) to a C2 633 o/c'd to 950? Thanks for your advice/opinions!

I'm also running an Abit BP6 with 2 celerons @ 550. Anyone have any feedback? If I do upgrade to a single celeron II, what would be the best converter to use (PPGA -> FC-PGA)?

As to whether or not the FCPGA Celeron 633 will operate on an older mobo, the critical criteria beyond the voltage is the that the board must support VRM 8.4 DC-DC Converter guidelines.

SOME bios upgrades will fix this, some not.

MSI6905 microstar is the best. i have 2 of them and the third is an abit. i still like the msi better. they are all about the same price.

BTW, a Celeron 2 @950 and geforce DDR gives me a 3dmark 2000 score of 5020 average. My brother who has a P2-400(450?) running the same benchmark gets like 3200 (same ddr annihilator pro).

Perhaps that enlightens you on the speed difference. I'd like to know how that compares to similar setups with different processors for a price/performance comparison?

When using the MSI slotket for the 633 do you remove the Coppermine 256K jumper or leave it in place (this would be on a BX board)? Thanks.

i'll stay with my 533 @ 896 with 112 fsb, thanks anyway.

BTW, don't know if this has been posted but i wouldn't use 3Dmark 2000 if i was you as a stability tester, it doesn't do a good job of stressing the cpu.

CPU Burn (or just Burn) is much better and a new one (well new to me) called Cpu Stability Test which even gives you a "unhackable" (yeah right) certificate proving the speed you have your CPU overclocked to, great for those 13 year olds that love to flame on forums :)

check overclockers.com for more info on programs that test stability.

The old king of oc boards was the abit bh6 and with a bios upgrade, it will work with the new celerys. The successor to it's throne was the abit be6 II which has recently been dethroned by an asus i815 board. I have both of the Abit boards and if you are interested, fire off an email mattwk@hotmail.com... I hope that didn't peeve the mods since it was a relevant post.

i feel a program that doesn't stress the video card/agp bus isn't a good real world performance tester.

anyways to answer the question: Just about all BX chipset motherboards will work with a celeron 2. I have a OLD p2b that runs it. Thats about the oldest BX mobo i can think of (still forsale today, can u believe the local clone shop still has them??)

Does the msi ms-6905 Dual ver 1.1 support the celeron 2? I have a brand new one in a box I got for free a while back and would like to use it if possible.

My MSI-6905 rev. 2.3 is happily running my Celeron 633 FC-PGA at 950 with default voltage (1.65V). Soyo 6BA+IV and Golden Orb.
