9500np Radeon "L shaped" video card for those who missed out

I do not know how to link the other thread. Search for 9500 in this forum and it will explain what I mean by "L shaped"
Topic Title: Connect3d Radeon 9500 L RAM red pcb
Good Luck people.

they are 'L' shaped.... they're just on black pcb...

i dont know if that makes a difference though

If those pictures are correct then these are NOT the right ones to do the softmod with. The ram must be in an L shape and the pcb must also be a red one.

and the pcb must also be a red one.

That myth is such BS it does not have to be red pcb! What does the color of the pcb have to do with the mod??.....NOTHING! Christ people who keep saying this are really stupid or mislead. As long as you have the L shaped memory it is modable. The shape of the memory signifies that it "IS" a card with 8 pipelines and can be softmodded.

Since it is a 9700 batch card that was made a 9500.....enough said.

I know this for a simple fact since I softmodded 2 9500 "green pcb" ATI cards and have never had a problem with the one I own or the one I sold to a buddy.

Yeap!

Im just gonna wait til next PC show @ Burbank to find me an L shape 9500np .. We'll see how it goes 🙂

What picture are you looking at? They ARE in the correct position! And NOOOOO they do NOT have to be RED! Read before you write Beavis! Read the original post, and the tech pages, educate yourself before you write eronious info.

I did look at the pictures, I wasn't saying that they were in the wrong position, simply that it was a black pcb. And I had read on websites about the mod saying it had to be a red pcb, but apparently this information was wrong. I stand corrected. Sorry for the misleading information.

So will you keep it or send back? I ordered one of these too. Not sure if its a good enough deal if it isn't modable. Then again, I really need a video card. 20% restocking fee pretty much means most people won't send it back. I think its false advertising for them to show the wrong pic on their web site.

These 9500 non pro deals these days are super risky. Enet isnt even sending l shaped memory configs.

I respect the fact that you want to help people find a good deal, but I don't think these should be posted unless you KNOW they are shippng l - shaped. Otherewise its just wasting everyones time.

In my original post I said I did NOT call to see if the pics were of their actual stock.

Sorry for calling you Beavis. I know you were just looking out for people.

SUCCESS!
No artifacts at all.

9500np Connect3d:

Fill rates: 936/1113

9500np Connect3d w/ omega drivers no overclocking
3dmark 2001SE:

Fill rates: 1570/2189

P4 2.53 w/ 768mb pc2700

Was very simple. All I did was install the omega drivers from omegacorner.com You don't have to hack anything. They install themselves. I will report back after I try some overclocking.

Actually, the L-shaped memory indicates a 256-bit memory bus and it has nothing to do with the the pipelines. You can do the mod to a non-L-shaped board and try to get a 9500 Pro. The advantage of the 256-bit memory bus plus the opening of the pipelines allows for the wonderful 9700 like performance. Remember the upgrade path: 9500np -> 9700 or 9500(128 MB 128-bit memory) -> 9500pro.

For those who missed out, connect3d is selling the card direct from their website for 149.
