9500/9700 np overclock w/ 3.3 Infineon RAM

For those people who have these cards with 3.3 Infineon, how much overclock can you get on your ram with just stock cooling?

I have a 9500 np and I can't seem to get over around 290 or so on the RAM without some very slight artifacting in 3dmark2001se . . . I have a Dell, could it be there's just not enough cooling in the case . . . or is the ram on my particular card not that overclockable?

I have a 9700 non pro with the 3.3ns infineon ram and I can't get the ram past the 300 mark without my card crashing. I have it clocked at 325 / 295 and it runs fine.

yep, mine tops out at 290 as well

the infineon 3.3 just doesnt cut it for overclocking

but the core....crank that sucker up!!!!! mine will go to 390 before locking up I run it continuosly at 375/285

I ran a few 3DM01 tests recently and with a P4 @ 3000, Radeon 9500->9700 SW hack, core 360 and mem 290 and 302. Guess what? The performance difference is around .6%. That's a point, as in less than one percent. Mayybeee the real world performance is more, like as much as 1% -it still don't equate to diddly. So don't worry and be happy with the mad core o'erclocks.

The one that came with the card. Why change it, unless it was clock locked and in that case you should just dump it, edit it, and reflash it (if you cannot be absotootly sure that one you download is otherwise identical). Mismatching a BIOS is a bad idea 'cause they are programmed for use with certain chips.

I think the bios most have is the 8.004 bios. that seems to be the standard 9500/9700np bios of chioce

also something to consider, some bioses may have more aggressive memory settings at lower speeds that will offset any benefit a higher clocking bios with less aggressive timings

Like auric said....only 0.6% difference with 12mhz higher overclcock
