im so confused as to which i want. i know the goods, and bads of both. ones RWD, ones FWD.

they are just as fast as each other, viggen will rape an M3 at speeds, and M3 beats the viggen off the line.

obviously the M3 is gunna be more expensive to maintain, but its a nicer interior.

both have TOP notch seats, and they are AMAZING.

so confused. i really need to figure out what i want.

I'd go for the Viggen. It's newer and better looking IMHO. Then again, I'm partial to SAABs.

You're not going to look cool in an 11 year old M3, but you will definately be broke. Get realistic.

I'd go with the M3. A car that is quick off of the line is more fun to me than a car that can go 60 - 80 faster. RWD FTW!

Maybe I'm wrong, but who in their right mind pays more than 10 grand for a car with more than 100k miles? I know for a fact he's not going to purchase one with 30-40k miles for 20 grand now is he? Do you know how much maintenance is on an M3? If you look at it funny, the alternator will crap out and there goes $400 down the drain.

EDIT: It's one thing to be an enthusiast, but be realistic.

YUP. and the previous guy shouldn't have said 'you don't know anything' GIRLS DON'T LIKE MOST CARS THAT GUYS DO. If the OP was trying to attract male enthusiasts with an ugly, dated looking, old mid 90's car...then yes, the M3 is a good choice.

I'm a long time Saab addict and I purchased my Viggen almost one year ago-I've put 40000 on it since then and it's just amazing! Another thing to consider is mpg, before I chipped it I'd average 31hwy 29city-even in the summer!

So I'd go for the Viggen over the M3-parts are pretty inexpensive at the online vendors like eeuroparts.com and genuinesaab.

Here's Mine! 00 Viggen

I wanted lightning blue but all I could find was this yellow viggen :) The yellow 3 door is one of 14 left in the world :) So at least it's rare!

I'd get a Viggen. M3's are fun cars to drive, but a major pain to maintain ect. It's your money though :)

people want SOOO much for lightning blues, its insane.

i might have found a viggen if the dude sends pics, says theres a few scratches, but i know i will need to buy wheels/tires for winter for any "sports" car i purchase, and i plan on putting about $600 of mods onto it to fix the "torque" steer, and help it handle better.

The Viggen is such a blah car to drive, quirky is putting it nicely. The M3 is clearly the better driver's car but both are going to be expensive to own (so budget appropriately.)

What's the asking price and milage? 3door or 5door? If you look at the pic you'll notice the upgraded wheels/tires on my viggen. They are borbet type FS with 225/40/18s. I've also had powerchips remap the ECU. I'd replace the original recirc valve with a hyperboost hx (noticed spoolup more quickly) if your viggen has more than 60000.

Show us some pics when you get it!

Good luck!

74k miles, 99, lightning blue, 3 door.

hes thinking about 10.9k

and yes, i know the stock viggen wheels are like plyable clay.

id look to do the rescue kit first, and then spend some money on the wheels/tires if necessary, and then id save up for a while and buy the rest.

I've never driven an M3-riden in one though-don't see how you can describe the Viggen as "blah to drive". Might have been a Viggen running below stock threshold for boost?

When I was looking at cars I drove 2005 STI, 2005 SRT4, 2005 Lancer, and a Viggen, none of them were as comfortable as the Viggen (for me-I'm 6'7", and none of the interiors appealed to me as much as the Viggens).

I have the rescue kit on mine-it was the first thing I did-it does wonders!

I'd say M3 but then I'm biased. ;) If you've not driven 300hp+ rear drivers before, take it super easy. The E36 is a little unforgiving with no traction/ESP. The viggen is OK I guess.
