943 yard mountain goat shot

The guy that made that video is a total douche. That goat died a horrible death.

This is just children torturing animals. Hunters do not behave this way. Men do not behave this way.

If he packed it out, dressed and butchered it, it's all good.

You've never been hunting, at least with anyone that knows how. You don't shoot things from as far away as possible just to see if you can, you get as close as possible so you can hit what you're aiming at, which should be the heart. No, not all good.

Really? You guys are really going to turn this into a "How to hunt 'properly'" thread? That was one hell of a good shot. Leave your ethics in P&N.

That is a hell of a shot. I also disagree with the ethics behind it. I could care less about hunting, just do it correctly.

The animal was dead right there. Good shoot. He makes these kinds of shots routinely, he posts on another forum I frequent.

SphinxnihpS - wrong, wrong, and wrong. Nice try though. Goat went down - obviously a good kill shot. If he hit it in the legs or something, the goat would have taken off running. Furthermore, the vital area is the lungs and heart. The lungs present a larger target and are often the target of choice. Heart is too small. Lastly, the average shot distance on a mountain goat is much greater than the average shot distance on say, white tail deer. If he's competent at taking a 900+ yard shot, go for it. He was obviously competent as he got the animal.

Noticed it started twitching / muscle contraction during death when camera zoomed out!

It's pretty cool how the bullet looked like it curved?

I think the goat just fainted from hearing the shot. Why they didn't all do the same will remain a mystery.
😀

It looks like you are making an argument for something nobody cares about. SphinxnihpS didn't say it wasn't a good shot. He said it was pointless.
