Hi there I am going to upgrade pc in a couple of weeks should I stay with 939 or go with AM2? Sorry about other post I hit enter instead of shift. Is there any benefit with AM2 versus 939.

You know you can edit your thread right? Rather than starting a new one?

If you already have a 939 mobo (sounds like it) just stick with it, unless you have money to burn.

yes

a man of many words... what he meant to say was that yes, the upgrade to ddr2 makes a difference but it's only noticable if you use drr2-800 or above. The am2 boards seem to be beeter for overclocking as well... it'll be nice to see what DFI comes out with. The am2 and 939 cpu's cost ~the same, so if you're building a new system, no real reason to stay with 939. Even ddr2 costs ~as much as ddr now.

And it almost definitely will. AM2 was just a platform upgrade, while AM3 will be released with K8L CPUs. The only new part of the CPU on AM2 was the new DDR2 memory controller, and AM3 and K8L bring many more things to the table, such as HT 3.0

good to know. the only improvements made with am2 were the jump to ddr2 and memory controller improvements. The actaul processor performance wasn't improved.
