939 Delayed :(

I hadn't seen anyone commenting on this topic: X-bit Story. It looks like the 939 processors will be delayed until June 1 now (instead of May 25).

This isn't a "long" delay, thank God! I am getting a little discouraged with these delayse. I have been anticipating a major upgrade of my system in the coming weeks. I hope we don't have any other delays by June / July.

My $2000 is starting to burn a hole in my pocket. (I have given myself $2000-2500 to spend on buidling my first system.... don't need speakers, monitor, or networking equipment as I've already bought them)

😛

Do you guys see a big problem with being one of the first to jump on the PCI-E / 939 platform? I'm wanting a system cutting edge with as much future proofing as possible. I hope the first mobos, procs, and PCI-E cards are worth the wait.

I don't like buying first version of anything but you can be the beta tester. 😉

Give me reports and bag fixes 🙂

That bad huh? I've never bought "cutting edge" before.... I just want to upgrade to something very quick 🙂

I have not seen any additional procs (AMD 64) coming out for socket 754 after the 3700+ comes out. Do you guys think that AMD might actually make more 64 bit chips for this proven socket?

I agree, save your money and buy a NF2 with XP-M and O/C the hell out of it for ~$200 and wait 6 months. Buy the same RAM you would have with the 939 board and use it later. Give 939 time to mature while you enjoy a cutting edge system on the cheap. Of course, I was one of the first to get in on NF2 with my A7N8X Deluxe and that was one hella-stable and fast board...still is.

Some of us don't mind being the guinea pigs. 😉 I usually jump right on this new stuff too. Fixing problems is fun!

Maybe I can ask you questions after taking the plunge? 😛

do you really think amd would switch from 754 to 939 if there arent going to be major improvements. its not cheap or easy to switch a processor to a different socket, they are doing it for a reason.

Using my computer is much more fun than fixing it.
