O oc'ing gurus:

Been toying around with my 3800+ X2 to see how fast I can push it (novice oc'er here) in my Main Rig below - unfortunately, it seems I'm temperature limited in my smallish MicroFly case (I replaced the almost air tight side acrylic panels with mod mesh for better ventilation).

Memory's on a divider (6/5, so I'm pretty close to DDR400), and HTT's x4. I was hoping to reach 2.5GHz, but I'm apprehensive on ramping volts up to 1.45 and lifting the thermal ceiling on this thing. Do you experts think it's worthwhile to volt up and start raising freq up some more? Do you think I have 2.5 in my future? What temps should I cry "uncle!" at.

Another part of me is saying replace it with a 4800+ X2, and get the benefit of a faster clock and 2x1MB caches - I game a lot, but do some extensive video editing (Premiere Pro, xVid, Nero). Recommendations on this? Or am I out to lunch? :D

Thanks in advance!

Try HTTx3

Fool with memory dividers some are flaky with different processors.

I try not to go over 40-45 C

1.45v maybe too as long as you keep good temps, I would go up to 1.5v but thats me

Edit: Ouch didn't see the 59 C, you might want to check to see if your heatsink is mounted properly. Too much as/thermal grease will give you high temps too

I run a DFI Lanparty UT SLI-D at 260Mhz, 4x HTT, 1:1 memory @ 3-4-3-8 (Mushkin DDR500), 10x Multi for 2.6Ghz at 1.475 Vcore (in windows under load).

X2 3800+ CPU

Don't worry about your temps much. Anything above about 60c is too much, but below that stable is A-OK. Orthos and Prime will always report back higher temps than any other app you can run. I've run this rig 24/7 for a little over 8 months.

Thx for the replies. I've got a 7000CNPS on the proc right now, and I really think I installed it right. When I had the stock HSF on it, I was running 5-8deg C. higher.

I'll try the HTT a bit lower and see what I get.

This could be a bad batch.

What about trading up to a 4800+ X2?
