930 dual core runs pretty hot, any speed throttling software available?

I just replaced my athlon xp 2400+ with a 930 w/ 2gb ram, it's wicked faster but its also so much hotter in the room im considering running a duct into the other room for the computer to vent into. On my laptop I have the centrino hardware control utility that will let me throttle down the cpu when its idling and im not using the computer so its not generating all the heat, is there anything like that avalable for the desktop p4's?

Intels run normally hotter than AMDs.
My Centrino on my laptop runs hotter than AMD laptops, but its not a problem.

You don't need to throttle down your 930.

He's not worried about the CPU temps, more irked ( a fantastic word, must use it more often) about the power draw and resultant amount of heat being dumped into his room. (I have the same, with my 2500XP on the temp rises 1-2*C, with my gaming PC on too it's a furnace at times).

Thanks for the info, I've looked and it looks like speedstep isnt avalable for the 930 cpu.

You could go into the bios and lower the vCore. You'd have to test for stability afterwards, though.

Oh, 1 or 2 degrees... big frickin deal. The sun affects a room's temperature much more than that. And if two computers on in your room makes it seem like a "furnace".. there's something wrong with your health.. or you need better air circulation. What size room is it? Where in the house/apt./dorm building is it? How are you measuring the temp.. with a permanently mounted thermometer or some other less reliable means?
