92mm fan on a slk-800

it probably works the same as placing a 80mm fan on the SK-6. Put the fan on at a 45 degree angle. It requires a bit of force to the the fan clips over the corners of the larger fan, but it whould work. I've also heard of people placing a 92mm fan on the SK-6.

You shouldn't' have much of a problem with the above method.

I've gotten a 92mm fan on without rotating it 90 degrees. Some have said that the air wouldn't be distributed over the heatsink so an 80mm would be more effective. The bottom of this page shows a 92mm on a SLK-800 and a 80mm on a SLK-600. My 92mm had little notches for me to put the fan clips in, but it wouldn't allow me to set the fan to blow, so I ended up using an 80mm.

See where the clip rest on that fan (the 92 mm)? You can probably drill a hole there so the clip will go in.

According to this review link pilferred from the other thread

The SLK-900 doesn't seem to get any performace advantage from a 92mm fan. Since the 900 is significantly longer, and a bit wider at the top (fins) than the 800 a 92mm fan will overhand an 800 even more and therefore perform even worse compared to an 80mm fan.

Perhaps the reduced noise is worth it tho.

Anyway as was mentioned in the other thread, the review isn't great. The test bed is nothing close to a "real world" environment. It does give a good heat dissipation comparison for compairing HS to HS, but doesn't reflect a real computer. But I'm sure there will be mroe reviews soon.

my two cents.
