92k show up for Alabama's spring football game

An overflow crowd of 92,138-plus fans attended the Crimson Tide's spring game Saturday, nearly doubling the school's A-Day attendance record and forcing university officials to start turning people away in the first half...

The previous best for a Southeastern Conference spring game was believed to have been
"It was awesome," Wilson said. "We were standing around there like, 'Man, there's a lot of people here.' We didn't expect that many people. To see that kind of support just makes us feel good."

By comparison, national runner-up Ohio State drew 75,310 at $5 a ticket for its own spring game on Saturday and champion Florida earlier pulled in 47,500.

I'm in no way surprised. This is Alabama. The school that will accept you so long as you can walk and chew gum at the same time. Football is the only thing important. If you took away the football program, the school would wither and die.

With the exception of Vanderbilt, that could be said for pretty much any SEC school.

I know it's Alabama and the fans are rabid, but 92,000 for a meaningless spring game? My wife's boss is a huge fan (he attended the game) and he said months ago that tickets were going like crazy.

Hey! We have NASCAR!



Yes, not having a pro sports team makes college football the only sporting choice (besides NASCAR).

Although, it seems people are getting into the new Barber Motorsports park.
