I mean, Texas loves the brag that they regulate and run themselves extremely well. They're lying obviously, but it seems to be the norm for Republican run states and counties. Do everything they can to wreck the whole system, strut in like saviors, make things better for themselves and worse for others, take credit for the good, blame Democrats for the bad, and keep their top notch propaganda machine running full speed so the average moron doesnt know any better, and just milk a population to death so the rich can get a better stranglehold on the populace.
I kinda feel bad for Texan voters because they have clearly been manipulated. On the other hand if so many of them werent so lazy they could have done their own research and realized the state level Republicans were lying or exaggerating about everything and were actually not the party of the People but instead do everything to support large corporations. Interesting fact those are exactly the same people who spend all day on the internet saying "do your own research".
 
The South has had an inferiority complex since before the beginning of the US. In part it's a matter of economics, the industrial North vs the rural farming South. We see the same thing today regarding California, contempt out of hidden envy, even within the state itself. Where there are feelings of inferiority we see ego, the great person we tell ourselves we are.

When somebody like Donald Trump tells people who have little in the way of real self esteem, they lap it up, but it amounts to telling people that how you compensate for feeling worthless makes you have value when that isn't really where self value lies at all. Real self respect is what you have when you do not feel inferior, not when you believe the phony self you became to please others as a child is a person of value. We are all the same behind our masks of pretense, all capable of the only thing of value, the joy of being, but we were taught to worship the symbol crashing mechanical wind up monkey instead. In Texas it's the long suffering noble cowboy, the Cadillac with long horns on the hood and the pickup truck with the rifle in the back window, a whole culture full of strutting peacocks who have no idea what it is to be a real man. It's not easy to be an emotional basket case and try to run a large state. So many pretenses to maintain.

It's kind of hard to be a bigot and believe anybody has to do is go on the internet to prove them wrong. The key to bigotry is blindness especially about one being a bigot.

In my opinion what destroys bigotry is love of tribe. I watched that happen within my own family when all the Republican lovers, pretty much everybody, came to the realization that one of their children, a person of enormous capacity and generosity and deeply loved and respected turned out to be gay. Wakey Wakey!

I am sure the local police, and humane society work the same.
Shifts that rotate every three months to make sure everyone that works here is completely out of sink with circadian rhythms.
I do have experience with this. This should be considered workplace torture.

I'm not talking about the shift length, I don't mind the 12 hour shifts 3 days a week.

I'm talking about the healthcare system collapsing.

Unless you're actively bleeding out, 911 wait times are getting a lot longer all over the place. And don't get me started on Emergency Department staffing levels.

If you live in a wealthy or upper-middle-class area, you're not getting the full American experience.

Look up average salary in Marin County California. I assume it is well over $100000 a year.
Marin county treats their emergency workers like shit. You don't mind 12 hour shifts? Try changing them every 3 months. It is a family breaker.

I cycled from day shift to swings for several years monthly.

I'm not sure how it works there. Having your shifts change from day to mid to night or whatever over time would be a no-go for me, but I'm a RN, not an EMT/EMT-P. I work in the ED and I have what I believe to be a god-tier 11a-11p shift as it suits my circadian rhythm. If I had to shift back and forth from days to nights I'd either demand another 15 an hour base pay, or walk.

Here in Atlanta, EMTs have some weird shifts where they work 24 hours one day a week, and like 2 12s or something throughout the rest of the week. I've had them explain it to me a few times and I still don't fully understand how their shifts work and I sure as shit wouldn't want to work 24 hour shifts...I can only legally work 16 hours straight and that is definitely borderline dangerous.

Not to mention the pay EMT/EMT-Ps make. Fuck. That. I'd rather flip a burger and make a few dollars less than be responsible for people's lives, have to go inside people's houses and deal with their bullshit, etc.

My cheapest housekeeper is at $21 an hour.
My grounds keepers are at $35+ an hour.

Move to a place that values you.

$15 per hour for a highly trained person doing a high stress job is just pathetic.

I make $100 an hour in the construction industry currently. That is enough to be able to make my mortgage and all of my bills. My ex on the other hand is struggling to make ends meet being a 911 dispatcher and trainer of critically important personal.
She is the person that fuckin trains the incoming 911 operators. SMH

I make what I make from years of experience from working from different contractors. They pay me from their experience of me of walking away and finding what the fuck happens afterwards.
Everyone in the construction trade needs to step up to the plate and rebuke the status quo.

Fortunately, I stopped having to do that cycling by the time my kids were in school. Definitely screwed with my cycadean rhythm. My sleep cycle is still screwed to this day. Four hours of deep sleep is about it.

Until I got diagnosed with sleep-apnea and got a CPAP machine even 4 straight hours would have been a minor miracle.

Lately I average a little over eight hours and most nights don't even get up to take a leak once. Of even greater importance I have way more energy and just feel better overall since I'm getting sufficient/quality sleep.

If you have never been checked for apnea I strongly suggest doing so. (especially if anyone has ever told you that you snore)

I was a major skeptic myself however after I had a scare with a round of AFIB my cardiologist convinced me to go for one. (I did the actual "study" at home in my own bed)

No exaggeration it's changed my life that's how much difference its made. It does suck a bit at first getting used to the CPAP mask but the inconvenience is out-weighed 1000 times by the benefits.
 
Man, I am thrilled. I felt the same way when I started using my CPAP machine.

I realized I was sleeping through the night for the first time in years. Gone were the red eyes and the constant tiredness.
