I love how the story talks about the family retaining a lawyer. Our mother was too lazy to learn English, died because she could not convey what was happening, so we're going to sue. I hope that the judge throws out the case.

the story talks about them retaining a lawyer, then talks about the issues regarding a recall on 2009 toyota vehicles.

It never says anything about the 911 call language issues, as regards the lawyer, except for: "The family bears no ill will towards the dispatcher or the emergency responders."

I heard "car" and "river" in there, but yeah, there's no way of getting the exact location or situation out of that in time to get help to her in time. While a sad situation, my sympathy for her is tempered by the fact that she lived in the US while not bothering to learn the language.

Don't know the American language, you shouldn't be here. Let alone be having 7 kids who also probably can't speak English. Was she here on vacation or something ?

Within minutes, a translator was connected. She listened as Chaudhary struggled while the car filled up with water. Chaudhary was heard pounding on the windows. The translator sadly reported that Chaudhary became exhausted and couldn't get out.

At least they got the translator on, but it was probably too late. :(

Edit: And it looks like the lawyer is for Toyota to make sure that the car was functioning correctly (no brake failures)

How is this Toyota's fault? She bought a used car and the previous owner, or dealership that sold it to her, should have taken care of any recall issues...

No one here is @ fault. It's just a shitty ass tragic situation. For the retards saying she should have learned English, like Geo said. Even if she spoke perfect English, she was probably toast. And does anyone know how long she's lived here in America?

Well, that's Fox News reporting. Expected.

I for one think being able to say "help" and stuff like that might have 'helped'. Maybe, maybe not.

I'd sure as hell feel awkward having to call 911 in Russia or somewhere that doesn't speak english and not knowing what to say.

We can't say one way or the other, but it makes sense her chances would have been better.

I'm pretty sure anyone with half a brain cell listening to that phone call would have been known that she needed help :)

You're probably right. Just irks me to see ignorant fools trying to blame her for not speaking English clearly. For all we know, she does speak decent english but she just reverted back to her native tongue (hindi/punjabi) in her panic.

Not directly related to the video but, as illegals take over and have legal children, more and more cities will be hiring spanish speakers for official duties.
