Lest we forget.
The events that so completely changed the world we live in.
The interactive videos are worth watching as well.

Lest we calm down and think. Some more to try and scare the weak and timid.

Right thats the whole idea behind remembering something like Pearl Harbor also isn't it.:disgust:

"... Bet we hear some of the voices on the tapes in some Republicans campaigning?..."

;) I wouldn't take that bet at 100-to-1.

Interesting how some here like to equate the 9/11 tragedy to political gain and fear mongering as opposed to waht it really was... an outright attack on the US and our way of life.

Why are you guys so (I'm not sure what the word is) opposed? scared? against? the release of these tapes?

There's no scaring the weak and timid... There is reminding the people of our recent history. It's almost like some people would like to forget that it ever happened.

Which as you so often point out... has nothing to do with 9/11. ;)

:) see.. but those tapes work on the troops and the FoxNews voters.. those tapes tell them that the US needs warhawks in charge so we can kill more innocents so those we offend will be even more determined to murder more Americans

Sure would have been nice to see if that $400,000,000,000 would have helped our citizens and economy in better ways

How often have our candidates seeking office or our office holders used 9/11 events to their political or agenda advantage. Most everyone of them has more than once in some manner or another as I see it.
Ergo, the release of the tapes (IMO) have some motive other than simple information release.
Nothing that government or its supporters do ever ever is done with out political consideration... it is simply impossible to be a politician or political involved entity and not know just how and when to do anything that may be of benefit to the 'cause'..

So we should have done nothing? Or better targeted $200,000,000,000?

And I reject your assumption that remembering 9/11 incites us to war five years later. But I do find it interesting that you assume that the rememberance of 9/11 would result in a(nother) republican victory. Why do you suppose that is? Could it have something to so with the Dem/Lib stance toward national security?

No.. because.. I think most uneducated people think revenge is the answer and I think the majority of republican voters are uneducated -- too bad those Christians don't understand "revenge is mine saieth The Lord"

Do you think Iraq has helped us win the supposed War on Terror?

in the same vein.. What is the highest paid "individual" sport? Boxing .. men get paid $10,000,000 to try and hit each other so hard that one of them falls to the ground when the brain loses the ability to keep everything working properly

We recently had our Prime Minister in Australia, and the Treasurer(The next likely PM) tell us it's likely that the "War On Terror" could last 50 years, and compare it to the "Cold War". Looks like our Pollys are learning a thing or two about the political capital to be gained from fear mongering. The latest attempts at mass murder in the U.K have been good fodder for the fear mongerers across the globe.

Sigh....Looks like we need another war?

9-11 was an attack on the United States of America.
In this attack nearly 3,000 people died.
The tragedy nor the attackers either one cared about the victims race, country, religion, gender,or thier politics.
I think it is sad that many seem to have lost the ability to view it as just that.
And frankly , I don't give a rats rump how much you hate bush, you do a disservice to America, the people who died there and thier families.

Osama still at large after being wanted dead or alive by the world's greatest superpower for 5 years. What a national disgrace that is.

BTW.. Daniel.. Why in the hell do these horrible tapes NEED TO BE released.. What is the TRUE VALUE

Do the 50,000 dead Iraqis have their own tapes?

I suspect years from now, Iraqi fighters will be releasing their April 19th 2003 videos, to remind them of why they are fighting & killing the invading & occupying Americans.

Some radical Islamic Cleric will make a speach about how, "We must never forget" "and "They hate our way of life" and "Bring'em on". The same Cleric will also show video of the aftermath of the rape & murder of Iraqi citiizens, at the hands of US soldiers. They'll hate our guts for generations. Mission accomplished.

Obviously, you are among those needing the reminder. :frown:

Hmm... In both cases, we had an unprovoked attack on American soil and killing American citizens. The number of American deaths at Pearl Harbor is listed at 2403. The latest listing I could find for the number killed in the attacks of 9/11 is listed at 2,752. But hey... When it comes to ruthless, unprovked attacks against our country, what's 349 lives and 60 years between friends?

Yeah... There's no relationship, at all.

I don't know of a single American that has forgotten 9/11, and frankly it is insulting to suggest that we have.

I do remember vows from both parties not to exploit 9/11 for political purposes, vows that have been repeatedly and crassly violated by the national GOP.

Just two weeks VP Cheney stated that the citizens of CT who voted for Ned Lamont over Bush's pet Democrat, Joe Lieberman, were "Al-Quida types." The question is not whether we have forgotten 9/11, but rather how low can the national leadership of the GOP go?

I'd like to see the 9/11 tapes from Hurricane Katrina released. By the way, what ever happened to Bush's solemn vow to rebuild New Orleans? It seems to have gotten sidetracked.
