90's PC game editing MAPS & MODS What games did you create maps or mods for?

I made a map for CS, similar to Militia. Never released it cause it wasnt anything special. I remember getting it to run smoothly took a lot of time. Compiling took a long time as well. If I didnt have a job, I would love to make more maps. But with only so much free time in a day I would rather play games than make maps for them.

I played around with Doom maps, but never released any.
I more recently modded Battlefield 2 maps for CTF under the DconX mod.

I spent countless hours building areas on a MUD back then. Nothing better than getting out the graph paper, designing a dungeon then actually creating it. Then one day the MUD vanished. Website and everything. No e-mail responses from anyone. I don't even remember the name of the place now. I remember being really excited about the graveyard I was working on when that happened. bleh

Almost forgot about Starcraft. I loved the trigger system. I made several exp based RPG maps.

Oh yeah I made maps for SC too.
Those were fun. But I had a heck of a time making bounties.

Descent. Anybody else remember the glitch that allowed you to create pseudo-4D maps?

The maps were make up of blocks, the edges of which you could stretch and skew however you like, as long as you make sure the edges of adjacent blocks join up with each other. The trick was that you could exploit the joints of the blocks to create overlapping blocks within blocks that appear differently in game depending on your point-of-view.

Once you got the knack of exploiting this, you could, for example, make a small 8-sided cube suspended in mid-air covered with doors, and each door would open to entirely different rooms. Awesome stuff.

I almost completed some UT2K4 Maps, but 1 I did complete, except it had bad Scaling issues and I screwed up some Textures resulting in people having missing Textures. Another Map was almost ready for release, but had a few BotPathing issues and problems with my SkyBox.

Lost a Map I was working on for Red Orchestra Ostfront, but I lost it after doing a Hardware Upgrade. After that I lost interest in Mapping. 🙁

I made a starcraft map where all my units and buildings were invincible and everyone else's had 1 HP. It got boring after the 3rd or 4th massacre.

Did a ton of stuff with the source engine. Created cs_abscond_07 and fy_warehouse_07 including all the custom content in each. Worked on a few mods like NMRIH where I managed and worked on props/content creation. Did a lot of sky box and environment textures as well. Got to the point where my favorite part was environment props/textures. Unfortunately, I have a lot of outside hobbies and doing this kind of worked required too much time commitment, especially if you wanted to get good at it.
