I remember having the super soaker with a backpack and shit. It was epic. Required a godly amount of pumping though. (Kinda a lot for my feeble child arms back then)
80's had great cartoons but so did the 90's. In the 90's we didn't have any big recessions like the 80's and no video game crashes either. 90's was one of the best decades in all of history.
That game was fun but it sounds like it's still going strong and my brother picked it up again after getting married so he was able to find someone before scaring her away with his nerdness and it looks like they have a ton a weird new rules.
Although it sounds like they got rid of banding so at least that's one good thing about it.
I actually did have one of those back in 96 and 97, but it was way too heavy for me to carry easily (I was only 9-10 at the time) when it was fully filled, that I never really used it. By the time I could handle it, super soakers lost their popularity.
Man I wish I still had that thing. Apparently it sells for quite a bit, and I believe my parents threw it away.
I was once a huge SuperSoaker whore during my childhood, I was the "Rambo" in my neighborhood, would run around with the best guns and terrorize my friends who would usually end up having to resort to cheating with a garden hose.
Was just thinking the other day how I hardly notice water guns anymore and was curious what happened to the SuperSoakers, it looks like they really dropped off right around the turn of the millennium with the orginal CPS line.
I guess it makes sense, water guns really do make more sense for a younger audience but those original CPS guns were badass and way too big and powerful for your average kid.
I guess the really disappointing part is that they not only dropped off in size/power but they really turned to gimmicky crap, it makes me miss the days of the size and simplicity of the original SS-50 which was just a water gun that shot a shit ton more water much further than your average toy water gun (there were several piston action guns that could shoot a ton of water really far but required so much more strength)
