900NF monitor

Hi there! I recently purchased the 900NF monitor only to have come accross one which has the bowing problem. Everything within 2 inches of the tops and bottoms of the screen bow approximately 1mm towards the centre. It's slight, but very noticable and annoying to me. I've searched the archives in search of a way to resolve the problem but found none. Does anyone know a way to resolve the problem before i go and try to exchange it? Thanks.

That's very typical of the flat aperture grille monitors; there's really not much you can do.

Is that so? I've heard many others that have no problems whatsoever with their AG monitors. Or maybe they just can't see the bowing....

Varies from user to user. Some users notice it, some (like you) get annoyed very easily by it. There is a slight bowing on my 900nf where the upper right tend to bow more up then the lower left and the lower right tend to bow more to the down then the lower left. You can RMA in hopes of getting a more perfect monitor....I'm too lazy and don't want to part with my monitor for a 15 inch...

1mm difference, thats way way too insignificant IMO.

Its not because you got a bad one or others got good ones, its that some people notice it and others dont.

Allright thanks for the replies. So basically all flat aperture grill monitors will exhibit this bowing problem. It's just that some people will notice it and some will not. Am i correct? So exchanging the monitor will do nothing that means. It's a really great monitor except for this minor...yet annoying quibble.

I know, its minor but its enough to be a big annoyance. Yes, you're right about all flat aperture grille monitors will suffer this geometry problem to a certain extent. Myself for one, dont notice the problem much, and my friend who has that same monitor says it annoys the hell out of him.

My Mitsu DP900u exhibits the same "characteristic." It's annoying b/c they advertised it as "geometrically perfect." But with a monitor so big, I don't usually notice as I'm too focused on the middle of the screen. ""

If you use a background with a solid black border, you'll never notice it except when you maximize windows.

I was thinking if there was a way to fix this problem through any type of software program? Does such a thing exist to allow you to adjust horizontal concavity?

Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way (software or not) for you to adjust the horizontal pincushioning that you're experiencing. That's just the way the AG monitors are.
