900hp Miata loses it at the drag strip

Sweet a GT-R miata!

I'm no drag racer, but those tires didn't look very fat. Is that all it takes to put down 900hp?

I'd guess around 350-375mm wide, and considerably taller than a stock Miata tire.

Edit: tires hold toqure/force, not power, in a technical sense. I would be surprised if he can go WOT in lower gears. However, it's probably geared pretty darn tall combined with tall tires, which helps keep things under control. The tires should also get optimal grip conditions when they need to handle 900hp: they're hot, have low pressure, and are sitting on top of more rubber.

There's also a point where the front end comes off the ground and additional grip is useless - Miatas aren't very heavy. 😛

Wait how the hell did he not wreck that? Is literally anything possible on 4 wheels if you know what ur doing?

I gotta go to a driving school. I took an off ramp too fast in my camry once and ended up doing a 180 in the middle of the ramp...almost hit the wall... 😵 (I fell asleep on the way home from work and came too already half way into the exit.....)

May be a little different when you are not concentrating going around an on-ramp then when hurdling down a track with both hands on the wheel.

Go watch any video clip about Senna and you still start to believe that anything truly is possible. The things that man did behind the wheel every time give me shivers thinking about it.

Also, got find a local autox club and go to an event or a school. Helps a LOT.

About falling asleep while driving: a trick I recently learned about (havent tested yet) is to take your left hand and rest it on your right knee (or vise versa) and that somehow makes your left and right side of you brain communicate with each other which will make you less drowsy.
Make sense, but I have yet to try it.

i also want to enter into a school or AutoX but last time I looked into joining it looked very difficult to get in as there is a short list that fills within a day.

I've never been to an autox or a school where they turned people away. Of course, YMMV.

Ya, I guess before they let you join the club you have to take these classes and they only offer them once a year for 40 people. Fills up quickly. Ill look into it more closely this coming winter as I want to be a part of it next year for certain.
