I would buy Chinese yuan and wait for the People's Bank of China to lower the parity rate of the yuan due to pressure from Secretary Paulson. Quick profit if my bet succeeds!

I'm thinking I could:

Option A: Upgrade to a Core 2 Duo and build another media center out of my extra parts.

Option B: Get Vista Ultimate + 2 copies of Home Premium for the media centers. Then spend some of my savings to do the Core 2 Duo upgrade.

Option C: Spend it all on clothes and shoes.

Or something else...

Also, what are you spending your refund on?

Edit: Also, I have no debt, almost enough saved in the bank to pay for a new car, a decent investment and I generally save like 70% of my paychecks so I'm for sure spending this.

Get Vista so you can post with how many security back doors MS left in it.

pay off debt, save it, or invest it
if you don't need to do any of the above, then you don't need to agonize over what to do with an extra $900

Are you into photography? If you don't, you might want to pick up the Canon 135L if you shoot Canon. If you shoot anything else, I cannot help you. 🙂 300mm f/4L IS if you do sports. The 135L is my favorite for portraits and near everything I shoot. The $900 could pay for about half of a new 85L, which would be my second recommended non-sporty choice. 🙂

Phone
Palm Treo 700p. Motorola Q is nice, but I don't like the lack of calendar options compared to the Palm Treo series.

Computer Stuff
24" Dell LCD anyone??? Great screen, should be able to get Vista and the screen for $900 if you shop around.

Photography: I've got a Nikon D80 with a few lenses. I could get a higher end lens but I think I'll wait till I've got more extra cash than this.

Phone: I've got an MPx220 Smartphone. I had a Cingular 8125 for a while but don't like the size of them. I plan on upgrading to the whatever replaces the Cingular 3125 (it will have 3g data and built in GPS) because I like the flip-phone form-factor.

Computer Stuff: I'm running a Dell 30" Panel with 2 20" Panels on the side. I've got a decent sound system as well (Klipsch 5.1 Ultras) I've also got a 7900GTO but I don't game (I'd like to sell it and pick up two of the 8600 Ultras or whatever they are when they come out.

Hot damn! Buy me a 24" panel then and write it off as charity. 😉

Nice choice on the camera btw! What kind of photography are you into?

Just did my return. I'm getting back $268 bucks. $221 will go to my car insurance payment this month (for the next 6 months), and the other bit is enough to pay for Gamefly for awhile. 🙂

NOW, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

PETER
Besides two chicks at the same time?

LAWRENCE
Oh yeah.

PETER
Nothing.

LAWRENCE
Nothing, huh?

PETER
I would relax, I would sit on my @ss all day, I would do nothing.

LAWRENCE
You don't need a million dollars to do nothing, man. Take a look at my
cousin. He's broke and don't do ******.

I actually got the camera for product shots. I don't have much time for photography as a hobby right now, but I like to do portraits and scenery and just interesting shots. One of these days maybe I'll post some of my favorite shots. For now though, it takes pictures of my nieces and nephews and whatever items I don't have a quality shot of.

Guns. Lots of guns. 😎

That's what I am spending mine on - a Kimber Desert Warrior in .45ACP, and a springfield armory M1A National Match.😀

Freaking nice. Kimbers are top knotch, and the M1A makes my trousers oh so tight.

Provided the transmission work my truck needs isn't too expensive, I'll probably be getting a CZ SP-01 though I wouldn't turn down a good deal on a 1911. Only time will tell.

Friends don't let friends buy 1911's.

But remember, if you do get one, you're just a few thousand dollars away from an accurate, reliable weapon. 😀

Haha. I agree, though I hear good things about the new (and relatively inexpensive) Taurus 1911. I think it goes without saying that a break in period is acceptable, but having to send a brand new handgun off for a "reliability job" is just ludicrous.

personally im putting mine towards a new motorcycle that I should have enough saved up for by this may. Im pretty excited.😀
