900 t-bird on kt133a

I'm about to do my 1st system build. My main question is, where to start with my clock multiplier. If my 8kta3 board has a fsb of 133 and I'm not interested in cranking this puppy up, should I simply unlock the cpu and set the multiplier at about 7 and go? That should put me at about 931 and not stress anything.

Heck, play with it at stock setting, it might do the 9x133. It depends on your ram too. If you start with a lower multiplier, it's going to take a higher bus speed to get it to a higher overclock. Meaning if you have low quality PC133 it might not run at 140+MHz.

ya 7x133 should work fine for 933MHz. i have mine like this.

Make sure you purchase a good stick of ram, I recommend Mushkin, Crucial, or (my personal fave) Kingmax PC150 Tiny BGA! Take your FSB up and adjust your multiplier accordingly until the system will not be stable with any higher of an FSB, then at the brink of the fsb settings, start screwing with multipliers. Faster FSB makes for higher performance and quicker reacting systems. One thing you will want to do though is experiment with lowering the FSB and trying higher multipliers so you can find the happy medium between the two so that you can get the most out of your FSB and also have the highest frequency possible for your processor. Since this is your first build I REALLY recommend you do your homework and get someone to help/show you how to do this stuff if you can.
