Here's a great deal at Staples B&M. This is in some of the Staples threads already but I thought it was worth highlighting.

They've got a 900 MHz cordless V-Tech phone (SKU 462352) on sale for $29.99 after a $5 instant savings. Pick up some cheap item to push the total over $30 in order to use the printable $10 off $30 coupon Try Fat Wallet to find the coupon). That drops the cost to $20 and the phone has a $20 mail in rebate that makes the phone "free".

I bought a very similar vtech phone about two months ago for $30 and it's very nice,

I picked up the D-Link USB camera ($4.94 after a $20 mail-in rebate) to push my total of $30 for the coupon. As others have noted, they also have the D-Link Ethernet NIC adapter on sale for 4.94 after rebate.

The print ad for the phone notes "available in store only".

I got a phone and they didn't make me buy $0.02 worth of something else. This one will be tax only plus a stamp.

Cool! I wish more places were willing to do that. :)

In my case, I was walking around looking for something inexpensive when I saw the $4.94 USB cameras.

Great price but dont be suprised if under 1 year from now you are shopping for a new battery or new phone to replace this.My vtech has more features than this one and when it works it works well, but 5 minutes talk time isnt getting it when my AT&T cordless from 5 to 6 years ago still holds a charge for 5 days or so with use.Too bad its not spread spectrum for privacy... btw, this model isnt either.

Thinking of getting this myself.

Don't know about the phone quality though.

I have a Vtech phone for last 4 years I changed battery only once. The only thing I do is, at night I put it on base unit for charging.

Thanks for the warning on the battery. I'll have to keep an eye out for that. Our other vtech cordless is doing great but we've only had it a couple of months.

OrlandoTiger: sounds like you may have had a bad one. did replacing the batery help.

btw: on the comparison with the at@t phone. have not been able to verify but i was told that the at@t's are vtech's.

My Staples print ad shows that the specials run through Monday, December 24th. But they sometimes sell out of the rebate items so it's better to go sooner if you can.

Thanks.

i've got a vtech cordless 900 mhz phone that i got about 18 months ago and i'm rather unhappy with it.

the phone doesn't hold a charge worth a can of beans, and whenever i use the headset that i bought to go with it (also a vtech accessory), i have to hold the wire connecting to the phone extremely still or else it gets very staticky and sometimes i can't even hear the person on the other end.

i got mine based off of a reference on this forum i believe, and it was at an amazing price. but i'm convinced this is a good example of "get what you pay for" as i now find myself looking for a new phone :/

Keep looking at Fat Wallet in the Hot Deals forum. That's where I found mine:

FW Forum

and search for "staples".

I'd link it directly here but I don't think that is allowed.

I also got it for just the phone and coupon without a question. Have done this before as well. Apparently some stores are more picky but hassling you for 1 or 2 cents seems a bit customer unfriendly to me.

I've had a v-tech phone for about 4 years and it has always worked fine and it still has the first battery. I got this for my brother, if it sucks he can throw it in the trash.

The rebate is good for up to 3 phones and is valid until March 31, 2002. Rebate Link

This will be a good item to use to bump up the $ value of other orders for free shipping/coupons. Not the best looking phone, but for free who can complain.

It's been on sale for a while. Looks like they are trying to clear them out. Only two left when I picked mine up in store.

In my opinion, this doesn't sound like a very good deal. I bought a $10 vtech cordless over a year ago and now it's crap. Lots of static and short battery life. Been pretty happy with my Siemens, though.

i had a bad experience with vtech
i had 2 of them, different models, one good, the other terrible

one had issue with keeping its charge
one would go for 6hours standing (not even talking, if i talked, more like 2 hours) to hold charge
it was always charging (in fact it spent more time in the cradle than out of it every single day.)

the other phone was a bit better, it did hold the charge longer but was heavy.

i think you would get most out of charges if you use the phone untils it dies and then recharge.
this would prolong the battery life. It has something to do with "memory" issues, like it doesn't remember the full capacity if for example you use a quarter of it, then recharge... the next time, it would think that quarter exists and the 3/4's is the full capacity.

you might want to check up on this though

if that's the case, it all depends on the user and not vtech

It would be a done deal if it had caller id. Oh well.. I've already got too many phones without caller id to bother picking this one up even if it's free AR.

Thanks for posting though. :)
