Total so far is 497. So about 400 bucks for the GPU, mobo, and OS.
GPU: I don't need the top notch stuff, and I'm not sure if I want DX9 or DX10 (but maybe you know). I am a casual gamer among the hardcore PC players (if that makes sense), so I do care about performance there, but I don't need everything completely maxed (although high settings would be nice).
Mobo: Recommend a decent, futureproof motherboard that fits into the 1000 dollar budget.
OS: I know you can supposedly trick the Vista upgrade into installing even without XP... that would be nice for 80 bucks. I know in the future though, Vista will kind of be necessary for a game player, so please recommend what you think is good here.
Not really planning to OC as I've heard it doesn't effect things too much, but is kind of more of a hobby, but that could be wrong.
