I'm required to comment, but the article speaks volumes by itself. This will, IMO, be the first 1 Trillion dollar deficit and possibly 1.5 Trillion as more bailouts and stimulus is tacked on. Whoever gets the first year of the next administration will have a very bad year in terms of fiscal policy.

I guess deficits don't really matter......or so I've heard from several prominant politicans.

Sounds like we need more welfare and health care handouts.

Yeah, more tax cuts for the rich and a bigger military too.

Our military is a lot smaller than it was under Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, and Carter. And the rich pay more taxes than under Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, and Carter.

Quit your bickering. Neither Obama nor McCain would do what is necessary.

Besides, its not like McCain has a chance anyway.

For all the small govt and fiscal responsibility talk from the Republicans, they have a lousy track record of actually doing it when elected.

So? The military can be smaller (spending cuts) and the rich can pay more, especially since they make alot more than previous years. If I can get a cut, I'm all for it.

I don't think Obama could balance the budget in 8 years but McCain was the one (was still on his website less than one week ago) who stated that he would balance the budget in his first term.

Care to provide any numbers for this?

I'm sure the total number is higher but are percentages higher? From the table I saw tax rates for the top bracket were 60% or higher after the great depression through 1980 then Reagan cut them dramatically in 1981 or 82.

And I'll take an even better cut under Obama at the expense of the rich and be perfectly happy with it and ask for more. Also, they will get to pay a closer rate on their capital gains to my labor. There is no reason that my labor should be charged a higher rate than someone's capital gains, period. No use repsonding arguing against that as you will not convince me otherwise. Don't waste you keystrokes, especially if you start throwing out shit like the Obama grandmother thread.

BS. Any president can balance the budget with the support of his party. Veto until it's balanced. Easy enough.

No you won't. Your tax rate under BHO will be higher than it is right now.

Shrug, Clinton campaigned on a 'middle class' tax cut that never happened. Fool me once......well you know the expression.

The number is mind numbing....

I'm reminded of a lawyer friend of mine who, facing bankruptcy, went out and maxed all his credit cards buying shirts and shoes, and other stuff that depreciated quickly so he could list them as almost valueless on his bankruptcy petition. Our government is a bit like that. But, ultimately, someone somewhere pays for the excessive spending. Chickens DO come home to roost. Americans of every stripe need a sound lesson in balancing budgets.

Deficits do matter. Those who say otherwise are idiots.

I quoted the opposite of the "talking points" because you probably believe in opposite of them. And look where it gets you. A communist on welfare in denial about terrorism.
