For some reason, it started reading the wrong gear for what it was in (it would say drive instead of overdrive which it was in), then it got to where it won't go in park, i have to hit the e-brake and cut it off and can take the key out in reverse. Just wondering if this is a gearbox problem or if its something within the steering column that just needs to be adjusted. If you need any other info, please let me know.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

I vote for the cable mount is loose at the transmission. There has to be a bracket of some sort that anchors the shift cable at the trans. I've seen this before and one bolt had already fallen out and the other was close behind. Not on an S-10 but a Corvette.

You'll want to check this out fairly soon as the possibility exists that you won't be able to get it into reverse at all if this goes on too long. It should be a very simple fix. I was able to get replacement bolts at the hardware store. Nice ones with flange heads almost like the OEM bolts. I got two so they'd match. 🙂
