There was a thread on this a couple of weeks ago. And our politicians should be ashamed of themselves by stating blatently false information in attempt to further an agenda. Luckily for us a lot of the moderate republicans were replaced with moderate democrats who dont share the same right crushing vision of curbing the 2nd amendment. And while our great president would be happy as a pig in shit to piss all over the 2nd he knows he doesnt have enough support in his own party to do anything about it.

9th circuit actually just ruled on an issue that will have much grander meaning when dealing with the 2nd Amendment. and it is a good thing to.

Basically, they said the 2nd Amendment is an individual right and that governments(local/state/fed ect can't deminish those rights. Read the whole thing, it's huge, especially from the 9th circuit.

There are so many ways for these guys to get their guns. From the corrupt police forces, the government bought a few Barrett .50cal rifles, which ended up in the hands of the drug gangs. Or from illegal smuggling from other countries. The world is flooded with AK-47, anybody wants one can get one.

Well I think the stat was 90% of all REGISTERED guns were from the us. Very different from all guns.

Obama clearly said of "all guns recovered". Which is a lie at this point since it has been debunked weeks ago.

"90% of all guns made or sold in the US recovered in Mexico were made or sold in the US! We must do something about this!'

When in reality he should have said 90%of the recovered guns that appear to have origins in the U.S. and are sent back to the U.S. for tracing are indeed from the U.S., although this is a small percentage of the total of all guns confiscated from the mixican drug cartels. Now onto the problems of illegal immigration and the burdens of this problem on the U.S. taxpayer...

Right, but that was debunked by Fox/Faux News, and so it's good to see this coming from factcheck.org, which is a site I've seen cited by those arguing from a leftist position more often than by those arguing a topic from the right. This article itself bashes Fox (merely for lack of a better word), which makes those on the left happy.

But if a rough figure given by Mexico's attorney general is accurate, then the actual percentage of all Mexican crime guns traced to U.S. sources is probably less than half what the president claims, and more than double what Fox news has reported.

So less than 45% but more than 34%. So split the difference and say 40%, which is a far cry from 90%. Either way, our laws should not be changed because of the actions of people who are already breaking multiple firearms laws in the first place.

The REAL issue you should be discussing is this:

100% of guns in Mexico are bought by cash gained from drug sales in the US...

lay off the pipe/needle/joints , and THEN complain about the cartel Violence.

Problem being that this is a genie that won't go back in it's bottle. We could legalize every drug but these cartels aren't going to disappear peacefully. It's always been about power and one can wonder what violence we'd expect if they saw their income threatened.

this is probably true, if drugs became legal and drug profits evaporated, i would be concerned about cartels getting into other businesses, ranging from run of the mill 'protection' to kidnapping and extortion, etc. I suppose that they are already involved in these enterprises though.
