$90 Epox is a winner for 939

Oh my goodness dude, I'm such an idiot, you hit it... ya it's still at 4x will bump down to 3x. What cho mean double? Double what?

What I meant by double wow is that the bus speed and final clock speed are impressive enough, with HTT at x4 then you are really cooking. That is pretty impressive man.

Well 315 no problem... so far. I'm deleting the title as I got my head baqckwards... I was so used to gigabyte not booting past 240 (yes I had Htt @ 4) I assumed the worst here too on epox...

EPOX is kicking.🙂

$90 @ mwave...

NP I'm going to start two new threads in the comming days. 1) my OC 2) a memory test showing if budget ram is just as good the most expensive with a series off real world tests...

I'm convinced because of A64's architecture people are crazy and throw away perfectly good PC3200/PC2700 RAM thinking ther'll see a significant boost using expensive ballistix/TCCD for example.

What do you think about PC2100 on a chaintech vnf3-250 ? and a newcastle 3000+ ? Think I can hit 2.3 ?

If the board lets you start with the ram@100mhz I would like your chances.

These chips start leaking like crazy after about 2650Mhz compared to 130nm

@2610 only requires 1.5V to be stable running a cool 35C under prime.

@2700 requires a whopping 1.65 volts and is only about 5 min prime stable

@2700 with 1.7 seems ok (not enough time yet) but temps get real high 47C (relative to the 35 above)

I'm starting to think about 2600 is going to make me happy... I don't like the idea of injecting massive volts in these like tbreds..

yes chances might be good, relax the timings a bit & give it 2.9volts & the ram might suprise you. 🙂

Can't wait to hear your input on RAM and motherboard testing Zebo. I'm trying to build a great value system and your results on the 3000+ are making me think it's possible to drop down to the 3000+ and save some money to go elsewhere & still get similar results as O/C'ed 3200's. I've been wondering about the push towards crazy priced RAMs and any input on what kind of value based RAM would give good results, even if not the absolute best if it means more money in my pocket.

Well I'm on water so be careful my results may not be indicative of future perfomance. Although duvie hit 2600 no problem with stock HSF....

Wow, I hate to be negative but the "I'm on water" might have been disclosed a tad earlier. 😉

Not really... My water is like good air so i usually don't even mention it... 5v fans..low power silent pump... etc. I've tested both before and it peforms just like good air (until I turn the fans up🙂)

Well, actually a stock Opteron 248 cooler (not sure if there is any difference) It was the one I loaned him (I am using Silen Boost K8's on my Opterons) And he had it to 2648 I think stable at 1.47 volts (check his latest thread update, I could be wrong on that)

Well I think this is it for me. I could go higher but like I said 90nm leaks a lot past about 2650 and needs hella vcore to keep stable. Not really interested.

I will be doing some mem tests soon, stay tuned.

Where are you coming up with leakage??? What proof do you know this is happening and not just the limit of the chip???

I get 2691mhz stable with 1.57-1.58v for 8 hours before I stopped it.... My chip seemed to make the normal progression of needing vcore more and more as I climbed higher and higher and to the point where each boost was just 1-2 fsb...This is normal...

I see nothing that can support any claims of leakage. I heard it mentioned in other forums but I am not about to spout hearsay until I have any proof....
