90°-side to 90°-side SATA Cable?

Hi,

I have been trying to locate some 7-pin 90°-side to 90°-side Serial ATA Device Cables but I have only found that Cablestogo 90 side to 90 side sata cable has one but with a pretty high profile with causes some hardware crashes inside my machine with the back of the connectors.

Does anyone know where I could find some of these puppies with lower or ultra low connectors? I have been searching online for a while now with no luck.

If I find a solution before someone else does I will post it here.

Thanks.

Hi brblx,

Thank you for taking the time to research this. I searched the link you sent me and none of the cables on this site match the connector style I am looking for as in the following link http://www.cablestogo.com/prod...?cat_id=1604&sku=10186 .
When connected to the back of lets say a HDD instead of being angled downward or upward the connector would be angled to the left or right. I do see how the image from the link I gave is not the best image quality and the description may not be correct but is as how the vendor in the link describes the cable.

Thanks again,

Morph,

I have a custom box that is small and the back plane of the HDD is kinda close to the back of the fx3700 card I have in it and I just need the cable to come out in the direction of one of the sides because there isn't enough room to route the SATA cable above or below the HDD and high profile connectors just crash into the back of the fx3700. Also the fx3700 card is on a riser card that orients the FX3700 low to the motherboard causing me to use again a low profile connector. I hope this is enough to draw a picture for your curiosity. 😀

Thanks,

daw123,

I really appreciate the time you took looking in searching. I saw the same thing you just verified. You did find a couple more sites than I had found. It is hard to believe that everyone is using the connectors that are about an inch in height. I'll keep searching for lower profile ones. Your comments "...same cable...", "..and again..."," ...yup, again..." are too funny. They reflect my frustration over this very well.

Thanks,

Thanks for the suggestions IsLNdbOi but I didn't even see a single cable on either site with the connector used on the sample in the link on my original post.

If anyone does find such a sata cable please give a direct link to the cable or include the vendor part number.

Again, if I do find what I am looking for I will post it here.

Searched for a bit. Didn't find anything (big surprise). Would a very low profile right angle connector work?

If I understood your post correctly, you have 2 problems, the first being the high profile connectors are interfering with other hardware, and that you can't route a cable above or below your HD, and so you have to route it to the side.

So, just to be sure, a very low profile connector like... http://www.scan.co.uk/Product....257649#ProductFeatures
wouldn't work? Would this still interfere with your fx3700 card if routing wasn't a problem? Just trying to get a better idea of how "low-profile" you need to go.

My hat's off to you for your patience though. As a last resort, If you think the "side-angle" cables you found would work, you could always carefully shave the connector's rubber coating down with a sharp knife until it fits. That's what I would have done out of spite after an hour of fruitless searching. I refuse to be beaten by inanimate objects and the internet. I was looking to see how hard it would be to make a SATA cable yourself, and stumbled across this guy...

http://metku.net/index.html?pa...ds/baby-sata/index_eng

Anyway, he cuts away the rubber connector coat early on and it gave me the idea that there is quite a bit of excess rubber you could probably shave away without exposing the cable, and the cables are not that expensive anyway if you screw up.

I'll keep looking and let you know if I find what you're looking for, Good luck!

0roo0roo,

Thanks, I understand what you are saying but the straight connectors cause hardware crashes. 2-3 inches of extra cable length doesn't kill the air flow but if the cable is too long and needs to be wadded with a zip tie taking up an area of 2 sq. in. in a location of 3 sq. in. that a psu is sucking air from in a desert environment running at 50C it will degrade the life of the psu over time and possibly lead to other hardware exceeding maximum recommended temperatures.

All,

I have decided to go with PN SS-02MRL from SATACABLES.com which works for my restrictions since the other connector type doesn't seem to come in a lower profile. I have to bend the SATA cable at the connectors a little more than I would like but there is no other solution right now. I have some pretty crazy restrictions on this project as 0roo0roo pointed out.
