9" iView Tablet - Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Saw a really good deal on this tablet. Obviously, its not the iPad or other big name brands, but it runs Android system. So what do you guys think? Worth $98 to mess around with?

800x480 display and an OMAP3 processor... At this point I'm screaming in horror and can't even look at any more specs... Dear god, oh the humanity, please make it stop!

In seriousness, this is so low quality, I can't imagine anyone would really want to use this as a tablet. It screen is terrible and it's very slow. You'd be much better off saving the money. Personally I feel the minimum anyone should spend on a tablet right now is $200 for a Nexus 7.

i used to sell computers at frys. nearly all the off brands are shit. shit screens, slow processors, and more than half get returned.
its funny because I tell people that and they respond, "well its only for my 5 year old kid"

I guess I will be the devil's advocate. It depends on what you want it for.

I "got it for my child" instead of buying a portable DVD player. Not that brand though. I got a $70 Agptek (sp?) and I rip my daughter's DVDs and put them on there for car rides to the in laws. It also allows me to check Facebook and use as an emergency surfing and gaming device.

I would not suggest a cheap tablet for everyday use though.

Heh, as if you needed any more encouragement, just read the "glowing" one-star reviews on there about that thing. Good for a laugh.

Seriously, just say no to no-name brand tablets. They are rarely worth it, and sucker you in at half the cost of a legitimate tablet like the Nexus, but with 1/5th the quality. Even if all the other specs weren't dreadful, you can bet it has a dreadful battery as well- meaning, it will rarely keep a charge longer than a day or so even when kept with the screen off. You'll end up just having it tethered all the time, and of course, eventually not using it at all.

Take $100, douse it in lighter fluid and set it on fire. You'll get more entertainment out of that.

At a certain age, it's probably not a good idea to encourage kids that electronics are throwaway items that can be mistreated.

Of course I don't encourage throwaway or waste. I try to teach my child to respect others and respect everything in general.

I have been teaching her how to use it properly. I also bought a cheap tablet to test the waters for future better tablet purchases. Sort of a testing of the waters whether I wanted/needed a tablet at all.


Being not the richest guy out there I would rather try out a $70 tablet and hate it than get a $200 tablet and hate it. So far the tablet experience for me has been "meh..". I have a desktop, a laptop, and an iPod touch. I use the desktop and iPod the most. So I am glad to have saved $130 and only use it on occasion.

Yeah, no. Just go over to FS/FT and find a gently loved Nexus 7 for $150ish and call it a day.
