If you can find a store that still has some, Radio Shack was clearing out cables. I picked up a couple of 12 footers at $12 each 2 days ago...

No way he could mean HDMI, my 1m cable at cablesforless.com was more than that.

I find it irritating that most consumer devices that I've seen have DVI-out, but most HDTV's have HDMI-in. Of course, a simple, passive adapter is ~$35. Anyone else find this incredibly stupid?

Yes, he does mean HDMI. Both HDMI and DVI cables were on clearance for $12, nice gold plated ones too. I picked up a DVI for myselfl.

You can get inexpensive functional cabling or you can pay out the nose for the same functional cabling, but with 60% more bling.
