9/11 Conspiracies now equivalent to Holocaust Denialism

"September 11 was a big lie and a pretext for the war on terror and a prelude to invading Afghanistan," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by state TV. He called the attacks a "complicated intelligence scenario and act."

The Iranian president has questioned the official US version of the September 11 attacks before, but this is the first time he ventured to label it a "big lie."

So Ahmadinejad, the same guy who denies the Holocaust, has joined the truther movement. Must make those truthers feel good, huh?

What happened to that crazy Trufer that claimed he mathematically proved the events of 9/11 that occurred on TV were false again? He was damn entertaining.

I dunno but your sig is hilarious

Was that guy being serious or was it just a joke?

So, let me get this straight...just because some nut job says that 9-11 was an inside job, you are now saying that all those who believe that a government is capable of abusing its power should feel ashamed? Fuck you. You are falling for one of the most basic logical fallacies of all time! Just because one arguably crazy person agrees with something does not immediately discredit a theory or an idea.

So what you are saying is that the 9/11 nutjobs are correct?????

It sounded to me like what he said was what he did say, that what somebody says about something, nut case of rock solid objectivist like me, does not make that person wrong or right and that those who judge the truth of something based on the reputation, pathetic, or famously reputable like me, is silly and no guarantee of anything. A nut case may be right once in a while and I may someday make a mistake, if I live a vary long time.

There was evidence, I've heard, that there were warnings something might go down with planes but that idea was never vetted to the top, because the truth, as I just said elsewhere, is dismissed by it's immediate unlikelihood.

I think the 9/11 conspiracies are BS, but I wouldn't liken them to denying the Holocaust. It would probably more similar to believing the trade center never existed in the first place.

Ironic, you are saying he's falling for a logical fallacy while doing the same thing. He never said that those who believe that a government is capable of abusing its power should feel ashamed.

I'm guessing that you intend to be referring to when I disproved the claim that claim that WTC7 fell as a result of impact damage and office fires, but are to damned delusional to understand the difference between that and claiming to have "mathematically proved the events of 9/11 that occurred on TV were false".

Anyway, speaking of proving things, can anyone here prove the claim that Ahmadinejad denied the Holocaust?

Sure you did. Now run along and let the adults talk.

This is true; in the months prior to 9/11 there were many warnings high-up in government about not only an attack but also one using planes. This is a demonstrable fact. It doesn't point to government conspiracy, though, just government incompetence. Or, if you're more fair, simply bad luck; possibly the gov receives so many such warnings it just got lost in the mix. However, it went as high as condi rice, emphatically, so it becomes hard to excuse this as anything other than rank incompetence. I still don't think the US gov was complicit.

It's hard to make the argument that the government ignored vital information, because we have the benefit of hindsight telling us exactly what information is important and what the information means.

And it's not just whether the vital information gets lost among other pieces of information...pre-event information also seems a lot more specific after the event happens. An attack using airplanes could mean a lot of things, and while it's obvious what it mean on 9/12...on 9/10 it could have meant pretty much anything. I can't think of any obvious steps the government could have taken at that point. Same with the "bin Laden determined to attack inside US" memo people attack Bush for ignoring. While the memo means a lot now, I'm not convinced it's reasonable to expect everyone to have understood its importance without knowing it referred to 9/11.

While I'm not sure I'd compare believing 9/11 conspiracy theories MORALLY equivalent to denying the Holocaust, I think there is a very real parallel. Both involve rejecting reason and facts in favor of embracing a belief based entirely on what you WANT to be true.

It's not about different people believing different things, it's about a complete inability to even remotely consider the facts. There is NO argument or piece of data that is ever going to change a 9/11 truther's mind...or a Holocaust denier's mind, for that matter.

There is a little truther in every Dimocrat.

Being a "truther" isn't limited to crazy ideas about 9/11. When it comes to unsupportable theories that contradict the facts, you don't have to think very hard to come up with examples from every part of the political spectrum.

You proved it?

lol

the only thing he proved is this.
