Don't forget Trine & Trine 2.

I picked up Crysis 2: Maximum Edition during the summer sale for $11. The game gets a lot of flak on this forum, mainly for being immature and "dumbed down" compared to its predecessor. I gave Crysis 2 the benenfit of the doubt though, and still bought it.

Unfortunately I've realized that the complaints are justified. Pretty graphics do not make a good game. I just found myself blasting through large groups of enemies, yawning in boredom. Usually "blasting through large groups of enemies" would imply something entertaining.... but not here. The whole experience is extremely hollow. I can't get very far in without getting tired of it real fast. Game has no soul.

Crysis 1 is still pretty good though.

thanks for the comment LessThanDan, i have always been like doubtful about buying crysis 2 or not... and seeing how you like almost every game, to read you saying that crysis 2 is bad and that you DIDNT like it, its a BIG BIG NO SIGN in my books =P

Before I forget, I should put in a good word for the Trine games; particularly Trine 2. It's a fun, gorgeous puzzle-platformer that plays like a video game version of a children's fairytale. It's simple, but wonderfully engaging. You alternate between three different characters - a wizard, a warrior, and a thief - and you use their different abilities to progress through the game.

In my previous post, I know I said "graphics do not make a good game", but... I'll make a special argument for Trine 2. :D The visuals in Trine 2 are "Holy jesus-rollerblading-christ" impressive. It's like playing you're playing inside a painting, or a goddamned Disney movie. Even though it's an indie game with probably 1% of the budget Crysis 2 had, the graphics manage to be 10x as good. It's funny how that works. Sceenshots don't even do the game justice. You have to see it fully-rendered in motion.

Seriously; Trine 2 is a fun game, and as a bonus, it will make your eyes jizz rainbows.

Good to know I saved you $10. :D

This is sad; I thought crysis 1 was pretty hollow compared to crysis 0 (farcry 1). Bleh. I wish they had made a real farcry 2.

Thinking of getting Trine 2 expansion, to support the dev for Trine 2 being good.
