I totally wish they would call a "cold day" at work or something....but I know it's not gonna happen.

Just about all the schools are closed, except colleges. Most people don't have to stand out for a bus to go to work though.

It was -10F at my house with a north wind at about 20-25mph. Definitely wake you up when you walk outside.

It was -20F a couple weeks ago in my little section of western NY. I got the day off from school, but got to spend about 2 hours outside working on the barn instead.

Dress appropriately and it's no big deal at all, except your car battery might have a little trouble turning over the motor.

Garage means that my car stays toasty. And truck has a nice big Optima in it.

And yeah, just pulling out the turtle fur and the heavy jacket.

Today sucks ass. Right now it's -23C (-10F) and my bus just randomly went the wrong fucking way and I had to walk the last MILE to work. I hate taking the bus so much.

A couple years ago I was out scraping my car to drive home when it was -15, -35 windchill. Car was frozen to the concrete lol. It started fine thankfully.

I'm glad that where I live temperatures like this aren't common!

Jeez. Thank god it rarely gets above 0C here. Snow stays as snow and it never rains.

Quebec had a problem with this in 1998. Major ice storms. It would pull down power lines and the whole province went dark for weeks.

is that -9C or -9F?

If it's F, then that's cold, wear long pants, shorts aren't good.
If it's C, then you can still wear your shorts, but it's close to the threshhold.
