Good race to all (although not quite finished)! :)

Andy_taximan from OcUK had an interesting point on their site.... How many users and how many computers were running per team? I'd like to hear from TAAT, OcUk, [H], and OCN, others too, if you're listening! :)

I'll start:

7x 2P Westmere EP, 24 threads each, no GPU--- 100%
1x 1P Westmere EP, 12 threads, no GPU--- 65%
4x Xeon e5-V3-2683 (28 threads each), 1070 or 280X GPU--- 100%
1x Xeon 2P e5-V3-2695 (56 threads), quad 1080--- 100%
1x i7-5820K 12threads, 2x 1080--- 99%
1x AMD FX-8320E, 8 threads, R9-280X--- 99%
1x Pentium with R9-280X--- 20% (GPU race only)

I need to fix my sig to show this.
1.12/ 24HT-E5 2670v3 with (2) GTX 980's
2. 8 core FX-8370 with (2) R9 280x's
3. 6 core FX-6300 with (2) R9 280x's

Goodness I'm too competitive to have such small systems. For goodness sake I have a 700hp car!!!... I know where all my overtime is going this year.

Well if AMD's "Threadripper" HEDT and "Epyc" server processors end up being affordable... could lead to some serious DC horsepower on the cheap!

I've got:
44 Ryzen threads
14 Skylake threads
2 Haswell threads
8 Ivy Bridge threads

Got in too late and struggled with getting LHC work, but still managed to crank out north of 41K credit in the <24 hours I was contributing. Mostly from just 2 of the Ryzen CPUs. The Intel processors are all currently engaged in other applications.

Other teams are looking around, baffled. Their MP3 player of choice is just fine. So where is TAAT sound coming from?
I am counting a total of seven shark related incidents at the Swimming contest.

Jeepers used our full name! Snippets:

(re: YoYo) TeAm AnandTech seem to have taken a liking to #9.
Indeed we have.

How many users and how many computers were running per team?
Seven nodes from this user. I confess that I did not engage my low-wattage Phenom II and Core 2 Duo this time.

Time to relax, let stuff cool down...
After several weeks of relatively cool weather at my place, it's going to be 30°C / 86 °F today. But my four GPUs shall crunch some extra rounds in Folding@Home. As I recall, there was a deal made with Mark. (The GTX 1080/ 1080Ti's may underperform though because their 4.0 GHz feeder CPU had to be replaced by a 2.6 GHz one.)

3 x Dual XEON E5-2609 - 24 cores total. 1 system has a 280X
1 x i5 w/ 2x 280X's (GPU only)

One of the systems is still crunching it's remaining LHC units....one of the rare systems that got plenty apparently.

I want to take advantage of this lull to upgrade one of my 2P Westmere systems, but if the next Formula BOINC is a CPU project, I'll be leaving you guys in the lurch. What are the odds, you think?

The last one was a GPU project, so I do expect a CPU project next.

I'm going to need a break from electrical costs for the next FB Sprint, my 7 and a half 2P Westmeres will not be running it. :\

Actually they have run their last race, I'm afraid. And they are all getting 2TB HD's to replace the 72GB ones, prepping to sell them. Fresh OS, all that fun stuff. But hey, that's been the plan for at least 18 months now, and was supposed to pay for the first two Xeons. lol.

I checked right now: It takes a while to load, but it does load eventually.

I think it would be smart to discuss strategy for the 9th race and then to give it our best in the 10th.
I will probably be able to upgrade my crunchers ... I thing a coupe or three 1070-ies would help a lot, considering that my most powerful GPUs are four 560Ti ...

Part 2,
https://www.seti-germany.de/forum/content/579-BOINC-Pentathlon-2017-Final-Ceremony
Overall Standings of the 8th BOINC-Pentathlon. In brackets the results of the individual disciplines in the following order:
City Run (WCG-OpenZika), Cross-Country (Einstein@Home), Sprint (yoyo@home), Swimming (LHC@home), Marathon (Cosmology@Home)

10. TeAm AnandTech (9-9-9-9-13) – previous year #13
TAAT can also be happy about their best Pentathlon. For the first time amongst the Top10. 4 times at rank 9 in the disciplines topped the results of the last years, only in 2010 did they finish a little better at #7. They consciously left the Marathon to one side and successfully concentrated on the other 4 disciplines.

This was far and away the most computing power I've seen at C@H since I've been managing it, and the workunits you computed will greatly help us improve our work. Stay tuned for a future post about these results.

It was a difficult decision for me, to concentrate on LHC only for the last half. I had my sights set on getting third place and my name immortalized on a Cosmology research paper. :)

Well that wasn't so bad. Last month's energy bill has arrived. Running over 5KW of CPU/GPU, plus air-conditioning, for not only the 5athlon but some Formula BOINC also, only $307.

Two Decembers ago, running 5KW for the whole month (folding race) withOUT running the climate control system (windows open with fans) cost me over $500. Makes no sense, but I won't complain about a bill that is $200 less than expected. :)

Mine was $357, and at the end, the AC has been running all day every day. It will be $500 next month I bet

Haven't used the space heater in a week. Finally can open the windows during the day, can't leave them open all night though. It was in the 40's two nights ago.
