8RDA+ nFORCE2 Drivers & Win 2k problems ?!?

Hi ,

I just bought an EPoX 8RDA+ from ebay .I installed Windows 2000 Pro and I have an athlon 2400+ in it along with 2 x Twinmos 256mb sticks to activate dual memory.

The problem im having is that everything runs fine up untill i install the drivers for the nVIDIA nFORCE2 chipset . Once they are installed then the computer wont shut down. When i try and shut down right at the end of the shutdown process i get a blue screen (ERROR small memory dump) and the system just cycles back and starts up.

This only happens when i install the nFORCE2 Drivers , up untill that point it runs fine , Ive downloaded the latest bios and nFORCE2 drivers but i cant seem to see anything elsewhere on the net about this .

CAN ANYONE HELP !

I have nFORCE Drivers Version 2.03 Release Date: January 30, 2003 and BIOS are 06 / 09 / 2003 from EPoX.

Never heard this one before, my epox 8rda+ runs fine. hmm... do you have the lastest service packs for windows 2000 pro?

Yeah i downloaded SP4 and all the other downloads on the windows update . My version of windows is completely up to date , ive even tried switching from 2 x TwinMOS 265mb pc3200 sticks to 2 x Corsair 256mb pc3200 sticks and the only thing so far that seems to solve this problem is if i take the nFORCE2 dRIVERS OUT.

i might know your problem...

when you are installing your drivers, it asks if you want to install something...(i dont know what its called)...BUT SAY NO TO IT, it causes nothing but problems. try that and see if it works

Yeah lol ,

Dude i dunno if you were joking but the only thing it says when installing the drivers is "if i want to continue with installation because thew software im installing dosent have a microsoft digital signature" so i click YES.

If i click no it will not install anything and the whole process was pointless.

Its going around that the 2.03 IDE drivers suck a fat dick. If you install your Epox drivers first, then 2.03 you can rollback to the previous IDE drivers and your problem should be solved. Many have reported various problems with those IDE drivers. My DVD burner was f'ed up and burned 3 coasters until I got wise about the IDE driver problem.

Yeah, I heard that the 2.41 nforce drivers (these were uploaded to the Nvida web site and shortly removed as so many people where having issues with them) where the ones that caused major problems with the IDE SW driver.

I have installed the 2.03 and with the non plus version of that MB and it never caused that problem (I was running WINXP though)

However I did notice poor performance with my HDDs when using the 2.03 driver, I just don't allow it to be installed anymore

You should get prompted in the middle of the install about the IDE driver and whether you want to install it, I would advice that you do not install the IDE driver reguardless of if it solves this issue or not as your performance will most likely suffer.

SW IDE driver is what he is referring to...

I Got it FIXED .... It was the jumpers on my board the audio jumpers.

See the set of audio pins under the AGP card position , I had the 2 yellow jumpers in the wrong positions i moved them and re-installed the drivers for the chipset and it worked fine .😀 ...
