8RDA Motherboard/RAM Compatibility

Here is the Mobo: Epox Motherboard for AMD Athlon/Athlon XP/Duron Processors, Model# EP-8RDA+ $85 (with AMD ATHLON XP 2500 "Barton" 333 FSB PROCESSOR CPU- OEM $93)

I want to run pc3200 RAM 512MBx2 on this mobo (trying for under $190 for both sticks)

Does any one know the specific brand or brands that will work with this set up, I need something reliable. I was going to go with this: CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series 512MB 32MX8 PC-3200C2 With Heat Spreader $95x2 $190

Any personal experience? I may go with one stick at a time so I am not stuck w/two useless sticks of ram if they cause trouble

Thats the same memory i am buying for my 8rda...

It will work fine.

🙂

Get ready for some overclocking.

As posted in the other thread, I have heard of compatability problems with this RAM.
Corsair RAM is not recommended for Nforce2 boards - The only Corsair memory known to be fully compatible is the Low-latency platinum XMS memory. There are also known problems if using more than 1 of these modules.

Actually Mark i think it was only Corsair Value ram and something about the voltages being read to low... (something like that )

I tihnk that the XMS series is said to have ZERO problems...

I'm just repeating what I heard over at amdmb.com - The only place that was able to help me with my own nforce2 memory incompatability.

Anyway, I've checked corsair's site - they do not list these modules as compatible with the 8rda+. You need the 'LL' Low-latency modules.

Wow, thanks Mark...

I was just getting ready to purchase that Corsair...

That means i must move to Hyper X ( more expensive )

DAMN IT!

Mark this is from Corsair's forums

XMS

It seems to be working fine for those guys, i would lke to get a definite answer here!

🙂

I guess I will just try the corsair for $95 a stick. I also e-mailed Epox directly asking them if this ram would be compatiple with their board. If they get back to me, I'll post their reply.(link)

So will this be a safe set-up?

Epox 8RDA+

AMD athlon xp 2500+

2xCORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series 512MB 64MX64 PC-3200C2PT With Platinum - Silver Heat Spreader OEM
>>>Specifications:
>>>Speed 400 MHz
>>>Organization 64M x 64
>>>CAS Latency 2-3-3-6-T1
>>>Memory type DDR
>>>Part number: CMX512-3200C2PT

I want to order tommorow, so I just want to double check before I spend the $$

The corsair works good. I am running it at 166FSB with optimal timings settings. I have not bumped up the timings or FSB yet, but it works fine, even on the first boot

Best ram for this MOBO is:

Twinmos/Winbond ( I am using 2x 256 @ 210fsb 5-2-2-2)
Kingston HyperX
Some positive reports with Bufallo Pc3200 from Newegg which I have never used personally.

I can vouch for the Twinmos/winbond for sure tho. I got mine from memoryx.net without incidient.
