You all probably know the answer so here you can help me - I had a darling little overclock on this system with 12x196, temps 46 under load, (I had a solution coming soon to lower that) buffalo ch-5 memory, but couldn't get 200 fsb. I got greedy.

I was happily benching at 12x197 a week ago when all hell broke loose; black screen and ff always. I cleared the cmos and spent the week happily babying this thing under optimal bios settings. A couple of glitches but all was fine.

Tonight I set my usual (not optimal) bios defaults, checked 3 times, except that I left the cpu settings, voltages at defaults. To be safe.

Can't boot into windows; can't even save bios settings anymore - the bios window just sits there under "load fail safe settings"

The one time I could boot into windows was in safe mode. I booted then 5 times in windows to be sure but the minute I went into the bios the window just froze when I tried to load a new setting (optimal). Is my motherboard dead or am I just an idiot or do I have a solution I'm overlooking?

The answer to the first line is, DON;T be greedy but who doesn't want a cute over 200 fsb?

I never went over 1.825 vcore or 2.9 (briefly) vdimm with this system.

That sucks dude. 1825V sounds high to me (I'd never go over 1.75V for any length of time on air) but I've seen other people do it... I guess this is what happens :( .

people go way past 1.75v for oc much of the time. requires decent cooling and decent powersupply. mines cracking away at 1.85v and still going strong..on air.

It does suck; thanks all for the links. And advice. I'm going to peel it apart (have actually, sob) till I find the problem and when I run it again it will be with better cooling. I have passive cooling on the mosfets and active n/bridge/sbridge but I know cooling will somehow help - I also wil try a stronger psu and the vid card seems to be flaky on my other system (this one) which didn't help.

Dang, I should have stopped when I was ahead. But I want 200 fsb and I want it like in 2003. But how sad that this is my goal for the year! Look and learn and get a life. I can't!

That's a nice temperature for 1.8V, xSauronx. What kind of load temps are you getting?
