Ok like most of you I bought an EpoX 8KHA+ from newegg.com .
The problem I had was that I went all out and bought 2 sticks of 512mb Corsair RAM (also from newegg) I noticed that mostly all of you bought sticks of 256mb crucial ram.
And Im having a big problem with it.

First I was having the c1 problem, so I checked the RAM and it was in tight, but I still had the c1 error. Then I gave up and came back to it like 2 hours later and I was having an FF and c1 error. So now im sending both the RAM and the Motherboard back to newegg for new ones. The thing is I was reading about the Corsair 512mb Ram and I heard it may be having some probs with the 8KHA+.

So I just wanted to know if any of you guys know about that issue, and what you think I should do. I really want 1024mb of RAM and right now I got the money, so help me out guys!

Yeah must be a rumor because they accepted my RMA request which means I will be getting a new 8KHA+.

So I still don't really have an answer to my question. Or I guess none of you guys have heard about the Corsair problem. But maybe its not a Corsair problem, maybe the 8KHA+ has problems with 512mb sticks....

<< so.. corsair is the only problem 8kha+ is having? if yes, you can go with 512mb of crucial ram >>

That kinda sucks though, because I wanted 1024mb not 512mb.

Its not perfectly good, Im not saying "MAN THIS BOARD SUCKS! DONT BUY IT!" I still want the same board, just a new one. My board seriously isn't good. The bios chip is like burned out I think. So im not sending them back a perfect baord.

Anyway, if any of you know about this reply with your 411.

I'm having a similiar problem with that same mobo. The post sequence stops @ 'C1'. I've got a stick of PC-2100 (256MB) in there right now. I don't know if you are aware of this, but in the manual they states, "This mainboard doesn't support ECC memory module. Supports PC1600 / 2100 modules with 2-2-2 timing."

I think the mother board does not like more than 768 mb of ram. I have shuttle 266a and when I put 4 256 crucial ram it was getting lots of errors on memory test. When I took one out and it has no more errors. I ran the test for 24 hrs to make sure. My Soyo dragon is even worse. It can even take 3 256 and on windows it can even run the 3d mark 2001 test but when I take one our no errors and runs the 3d mark without any problems.
Did You test the RAM individually? Some times there could be one bad one!

<< crucial has new 512mb sticks on their site. if you get two of them.. it's 1024mb >>

Yeah but newegg isn't carrying those yet, and I need to get the RAM from newegg...

yeah im aware of what the manual said.

<< Did You test the RAM individually? Some times there could be one bad one! >>

No i did not, but thats because I couldnt, my motherboard is messed up so i couldn't check the RAM.

Ok so I guess my new question to you guys is... What RAM should I buy? Keep in mind I still want to run 1024mb and it has to be available from newegg.

No i did not, but thats because I couldnt, my motherboard is messed up so i couldn't check the RAM What he meant was, Did you try both sticks (one at a time) and/or in different slots? Did you try calling Newegg or Epox tech support for suggestions?

Yeah, I was thinking of doing that, I wanted to know what everyone thought first though. Hopefully its just the Corsair RAM that doesn't work well with the 8KHA+. I was hoping someone else had tried Corsair or a 512mb stick. Also which should I go with Mushkin or Kingston?

Yes i tried both sticks, one at a time and in Diff slots. I also went to the Corsair forums, and it seems that other ppl are having my problem also. Thing is their forums aren't very "alive". No i didnt call for tech support or suggestions because im pretty positive that the motherboard doesn't work. So i just RMA'd

EDIT: this is the link to the 8KHA+ thread on the Corsair forums panhead

Also thanks for your help guys/

Is there a definite reason why you must order from Newegg? Crucial offers free 2nd day shipping, which is very decent. Unfortunately, Crucial.com is very expensive right now. The prices *may* come down after X-Mas.

BTW, Crucial ram is nice because their PC2100 can take the most aggressive timings on my friend's 8KHA+ at default 133mhz bus (he has upped the bus to 140 before, but he hasn't burned his system at that speed yet).

I have to order from newegg because thats where I RMA'd my RAM too, If I ask for a refund there is a 15% stocking fee.

Have also same ram problem but only if i use 2 sticks. with only 1 ram, system running stable but when installed another exactly same ram windows got blue screen and sometimes registry error. i tried the new ram only and it runs stable in turbo settings. but with two sticks, system always crash. what i did was lower the memory settings to normal and cas 2.5 and it is now stable. i'm also confused if its motherboard or ram related problem. maybe epox is having some difficulty when using more than one ram installed. i use 2 x 128 mb PC RAM with NANYA chips PC2100:frown:

Just an FYI, Corsair and Crucial both use Micron modules, so if it is indeed an issue with Corsair memory (which I doubt), you likely will have the same issue with the Crucial 512mb sticks.

C1 error= Place module in DIMM#1, seat HARD (let me say again- seat HARD)- Problem solved. Memory should be seated Hard w/ mobo out of case on a flat non-static surface. C1 will disappear.

Yeah im guessing its just the 512mb sticks of ANY RAM.... which sucks because I wanted to put as much RAM as I could in there...But most people have been using Crucial without problems so...

I put it in there pretty damn hard. I heard the "crunch" so I don't think it was that. When my new 8KHA+ gets here I will make sure to seat it hard again.

Of the people having success with this board:

1). Who is using more than 1 stick of RAM??
2). Who is populating the modules from left to right (dimm#1 to dimm #3)??

I use 3 sticks of 256 Cruical RAM, no problems. Push down on it until you hear a crunch while the board is on a flat surface (not already installed in the case). Seat, unseat it to break in the connections if it still won;t work. Actually, I thought most people with a C1 error weren't putting their RAM in properly. As for FF, well doesn't that mean tests completed, no errors, ready to go?

I have all three slots filled with regular 256mb Crucial PC2100 sticks, and I have no problem running with a FSB of 162mhz @ CL2 and the most aggressive timings. :) I've set up five systems recently for customers with the 8KHA+ and I've had no problem with seating the ram or C1 errors. I just push it down until the tabs click in and that's it...no extra force or effort needed in my experience. :)
