these prices are not any higher than whatever high end cards that dropped. I think I might step up to a 8800gts from my 7900gto depending on the msrp that evga gives me for both cards. I remember paying $312 for my Geforce 3 and that was an anandtech hot deal back in the day.

Yup, it was 'revolutionary' and suprising for it's time, IIRC though it never really made it into production.
