Last week you could buy this card for $319 AR or this card for $295 AR, AC.

This is the last part of my upgrade and I refuse to pay more. Any word on the prices coming back in any time soon?

I was actually thinking of this card buts it still comes to $336 shipped.

I guess I will have to be patient. I was patient with my other parts and it paid off.

Think about this logically. We're talking about a 30-40 dollar price difference. Do you want to have the card now or wait and not play games for a month or two?

Remember, those prices were all after rebate. New rebates will come along shortly I'm sure.

As linked above, this card has a $30 rebate and now costs considerably more than it used to cost.

I have heard nothing from the AMD camp. This, in itself, indicates nVidia prices will not be coming back down for the short-term. Unless, of course, AMD suddenly pulls a golden rabbit out of their asshat...

nv isn't stupid, those prices were when they were seeing what kind of reception the 2900 would get. all their forum plants have reported back...

AMD has gone to hell in a hand basket and taken ATI with it. At least we are getting a break on the memory side of things! Think of how much my 2gb of Crucial Ballistix cl4 would have cost me 6 months ago. I just paid $72.00 AR at Buy.com. I guess you give a little and take alot more.

Hmmm...maybe it's time to go to 4 gb....Sorry, off topic.

Prices won't drop, because there's no reason to drop. They aren't hurting for business.

and what's the rush in upgrading Aside from Dirt and Iceplanet, there's nothing worth getting for the next month or so that's going to be very challenging to a GPU. Even those games aren't worth it to me to upgrade for. Bioshock comes out for Aug 21st, I'd say that's what you should be aiming for.

Not everyone gets games as soon as they come out. There are many games over this past year, that would benefit from a faster video card. Maybe hes not gotten Stalker yet, or any of the other dozen good newer games. Or maybe he doesnt even care about Bioshock...

Well my 6600gt was good a couple of years ago. Now it gets bogged down with even the not-so-newer games. The last game it played pretty well was Doom3. You can play games like COD2 but with minimal settings. For me it is definitely overdue.

QFT. seriously, i wouldnt upgrade until crysis comes out. i mean literally out on store shelves, dont go out and buy it 1 month b4 their "release date" cause that stuff always gets pushed back (look @ UT3, they even changed the name from UT2007 to UT3 due to all the delays).

Yeah since they couldn't offer the 640MB for $320 w/o needing a rebate I held off and I will continue to until the prices come down or the next gen cards come out. *shrug*

By August 20th, my 8800GTX has to be out of here. I'm going to Korea for 4 months and don't need it sitting here depreciating :p I think I'm gonna sell it for $450 :) Keep your eyes peeled around August 10th in the FS/FT forum!!

The more I think about it...I will hold off myself. I will buy an inexpensive DX9 card for now like the $160 7950GT card on Newegg. That will handle anything until DX10 becomes more commonplace. I think it is too early to invest in DX10.
