8800GTS or 2 X1950 in crossfire?

would 1 8800GTS or 2 X1950 run in crossfire run better on my pc. (dont want to spend much more then £200, if there are different cards for that price that perform better then pleas tell me.

my motherboard doesnt support sli, but it does support crossfire, so i cant do 2 nvidia.

i currently have a 7600GT, but with crysis coming out i will be needing something better to run it.

current pc specs:
2.4ghz dual core cpu
nvidia 7600GT
2gb corsair xms2 ram

I have a 2.66 ghz dual core and a 2.4 ghz dual core cpu. They sound pretty similar, right? well, the 2.66 is an e6750 that will go as high as 3.704 orthos stable. the 2.4 ghz is an opteron 180 that has trouble getting a 10% oc. Not so simliar now, are they? With the 25 % clock 4 clock advantage, I literally have twice the opty's performance with the e6750.

What cpu do you have? You will probably be better off with a 2900 pro than either of those 2 options you mentioned b/c you will get 8800 gts 320 performance but will have the option of upgrading to xfire later on if performance is lacking. Will your two listed options you are hosed if performance is lacking.

for some reason i think they will be very similar or the x1950 ahead by a bit? i'm saying that because i didn't see much increase from x1900xt -> my 8800gts

overall all games fps was 1827 for 8800gts 320 and 1838 for x1950 256 mb in xfire (no 1950 pro listed). at higher resolutions the results appear to be the same. pro should be about 10-15 % slower than xt, leaving 8800gts 320 the clear winner if you must choose between these 2 options. I still think that the option that I listed makes more sense, however, depending upon your psu.

I dont have to go with those exact options, and i think getting the 2900 would be a better idea as i can then upgrade better. I will probably end up getting the 2900XT as thats the only model sold on dabs.

My processor is the e6600, which ive managed to overclock to 3ghz and still have everything run fine, though i didnt test it for stablility so i dont how how well it will run. And i have corsair xms2 pc2-6400 ram, so my ram can then run at the faster speed with a higher clocked cpu (though im just running it at the default 2.4ghz atm, as i havnt had much need for it to be faster.

Also, how much power would a 2900XT need? At the moment my psu is 550W i think, cant remember exactly, would this be enough to run 1 2900XT or would i need more?
