8800gts g92 @ newegg

The PNY GTS is more expensive that the eVGA version? Did I just enter the twilight zone? 😀 Of course the eVGA is the best deal there because of the step-up/ lifetime warranty. I hope we get more GT stock soon. I am ready to finish my build and the gfx card is all I need (going stock eVGA GT).

I hope it comes with Crysis. Too bad I just ordered Crysis. Guess I'll sell it.

If you got the cheese, scoop em up while you can.

I read an article that says retailers have ample supply of the new 8800 gts cards. Can't remember where I read this.

are they faster than 8800GTX ?
I wish nvidia had increased the core speed to 750Mhz , memory to 2.4Ghz+ , 512Bit. Than it would be worth $350.

Got one (the eVGA)! Was wavering about the 8800GT when it came out and missed it. Glad I waited and got this (for just a few bucks more, plus it includes Crysis too which saves me another $40-$50). It'll be a nice upgrade from my x850XT.

Why wouldn't it be? If anything, Newegg would be responsible for false advertising no?

Anyway, I went ahead and ordered all my parts today! Yay!

Good idea. I'm in for 1.

- Step-up brings you to March 11 (9xxx release?)
- EVGA warranty so O.C. the heck out of it.
- Better cooler than GT
- 3 phase power vs 2 phase in GT, more stable and better O.C.
- Reviews indicate 10-15% better than GT, + cooler = good value vs GT Crysis bundle ($299.99)

Well the msi card has a 730 core clock however I just cancelled my dell order and got the evga card. I used fedex shipping because their packages show up in much better condition than those handled by ups.

Good choice Puff, average o.c. of the core should be 775 according to firingsquad link - so you get the warranty and step-up. The MSI OC is not that impressive, and they didn't really mess with shaders or memory either.

I was foolish enough, at least in hindsight, to get a 8800 GTS 640 about three months ago, but the new GTS 512 is saving me from getting burned too badly. I went eVGA, and I've got 18 days left so I'm stepping up the 512. Ironically this is a drop from a $395 card to a $355 card (and costing me around $20 in shipping) so I still got a little burned. On the other hand, I've enjoyed the card I have for 72 days now and for just $20 am getting the boost, so I'm just happy it came out in time.

I'm be sad I didn't wait longer when/if the 9xxx cards come out in Feb and there won't be an upgrade for me, but until then I'm going to keep feeling like I dodged a bullet.

quick. i got a 3870 going to ship today at dell with the 20% back from paypal ending up being $195. i planned to get Xfire with a x38 P5E mobo, but i can get a p35 under $100 and use the money to get the 8800gts. what should i do?

I think it's a great idea. And if these sell out quickly, the prices may go up with the next batch, so it's good to get in early.

If it comes with Crysis (as shown in the picture), that makes it a screaming deal. Strange they didn't advertise in print that it's included.

Edit: Update- ok the advertisement now appears that Crysis is included!

Pretty damn fortunate that you went with EVGA...think of other 8800GTS 320 and 640 MB owners who got their cards from a company other than EVGA a month or so before the GT came out...they're probably pretty pissed off right now.

I ordered my 8800gts on Sep. 5th...missed my step up by 1 WEEK!! Anyone know if there's a chance EVGA will be nice??

After getting shut out of the 8800GT at multiple places, I settled on the refreshed EVGA 8800GTS 640 SSC with the A2 core and 112 stream processors that quietly came out shortly after the GT early November. Paid $349 AR at Newegg on Nov 18 and it included a free copy of Crysis.

I have until Feb 18 to step up so it will either be to the new 512 GTS here or possibly to the next-gen card if it comes by first half of Feb.

Funny but I havent played a single game yet on the card I have now because I only put the rig together Dec 1 and have been overclocking and tweaking for the past 2 weeks!
