Not sure what the problem is. I upgraded my video card with the new 8800GT and downloaded the newest drivers for it, etc. At first I thought it was HL2 EP2 issue but after trying other games I realized that all my games have that issue now. Max resolution allowed is 1360x768. Anyone have a quick fix for this issue?

Download the latest Nvidia driver.
Download Driver Sweeper.
Uninstall your current Nvidia driver via Control Panel > Add Remove Programs.
Run Driver Sweeper according to it's directions.
Install latest Nvidia driver.

well, the only thing that I didn't do in that list the first time is use driver sweeper. I see absolutely no other problem with the video card other than the resolution not allowed over 1360x768 in games etc. If you really think that is the answer I will give it a shot but I suspect it isnt.

Which is exactly what I thought. And why I mentioned it. Give it a try.
Might take you all of 15 minutes.

Just finished trying your suggestion and I am sorry to say it didn't work. I was hoping very much that it would.

I believe my problem has to do with my monitor not being recognized properly. It worked fine with the 7950GT but I see it only allows me to set the resolution at a max of 1360x768 WS and a tiny bit higher in 4:3. I think all the games are seeing this limitation as their max resolutions but my monitor which is the Sony GDM-FW900 far exceeds those settings but their are no drivers for it. I can uncheck "hide monitor settings that this monitor does not support" and it will allow me to set my desktop to higher resolutions but games still only allow the max of 1360x768.

I am stuck and don't know how to fix this.

I am pretty sure that my problem is an nvidea driver problem. I have now installed the beta driver and still the same issue. I believe that nvidia driver does not support my monitor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going to have to find out how to talk to nvidia on the phone and as WTF is going on! So pissed off that I bought this card and now stuck at 1360x768.

I can't figure out how to contact nvidia. What a pain.

Thanks JPB but I have been their and I am looking for an nvidia phone number not BFG which is the manufacturer of my card. They all use the nvidia drivers so it is nvidia I want to talk to. I thought it would be easy to find a contact phone number for them but I was wrong.

There are none for vista at least and I have already read posts that, that doesnt work. It is the nvidia drivers themselves that are at fault. Again my 7950GT drivers work with my monitor properly. I have three of the monitors hooked up to several computers. It isnt an issue with my 7900GS either.

I have looked and looked for a driver for my monitor and the one I did find Vista ignores and will not accept it. That is the first thing I assumed but I am 99.9% sure it is the nvidia drivers that is the culprit having read other complaints on the nvidia website forums.

You have a DVI cable correct? Sometimes there are compatibility issues with d-sub.

If that were so then why is this a non issue on with the same monitor on 7 series cards with the same operating system on other systems etc. Also a non issue on the same system with a 7 series card. It is the nvidia drivers.

Getting a DVI cable fixed the monitor resolution incompatibility issues with my last display, you can get a DVI cable for around $10 and I think it would fix your problem.

DO NOT use Driver Sweeper.

Use Driver Cleaner Pro. It can also be found at Guru3d.com. Make sure you check all of the options for Nvidia drivers and erase everything thoroughly.

Ummm. Why not? I mean, I like Driver Cleaner, but isn't it 10.00 for the pro version?
