At SVC it is $13 more. I'm thinking the popularity of using it on an 8800GT has made the market price go up.

Is the S1 really that much better? I've been reading different threads all over the place and it looks like the S2 performs almost as well as the S1.

Well I've installed it... used the same G751 TIM used the same fan & now I'm getting 40c load after 1 hour of atitool. So basically a 9-10c drop vs the S2 in my case but the 49c that the S2 gives isn't anything to sneeze at either. As always YMMV but both work for me. I would use the S1 if you have the room in your case but don't worry about using the S2 if that means that you can free up other items in your case such as sata ports or something like that.

I just got the S2. The bottom is tiny and looks smaller than the 8800GT's core. When I put the Accelero S1 on, I remember the 8800GT's GPU core being pretty huge. Does the S2 really cover the whole 8800GT's GPU core?

Yes the S2 will cover the "core" of the 8800Gt. The difference between the S1 & S2 is that the S1 has that plastic cover surrounding the mount so that it looks bigger but the S2 will come in complete contact with the GPU. & it works pretty well too. Like I said... if you need the space & can deal with approx 7-9c higher temps... then by all means rock the S2. It still will give great temps. Unless you have a non-reference board.

Bit late but I accidently bought the S2 instead of the S1 and couldn't fit it. The screw holes were not in the right place, so how did u fit it without screwing it in?? JUST by zip tieing it?
