8800GT $165 AR
8800GTS $200 AR

Is this worth the extra money or should I just stick with the 8800GT and maybe SLI it later on. Also, if I overclocked the 8800GT could I get it's performance up to that of the GTS?

I would say the GTS is better because of the better dual slot cooler that pushes the heat out. Summer's almost here! Though you could overclock the GT and get it's performance upto that of the stock GTS, the GTS overclocks pretty well too and you could get close to the speeds of the GTX.

Ok, so the GT can overlock up to a stock GTS and a GTS can overlock up to a stock GTX? Also, I'm wondering if the GTS will be overkill. I game at 1680x1050, and I mostly play, CS:S, Call of Duty 4, Command and Conquer 3. I don't use AA unless I can run it at 60+ FPS constantly with 4x AA. I am looking to play some of the newer games such as Assassins Creed and Fallout 3 when it comes out, so would the 8800GT be good enough to play those games on highest 1680x1050 but without AA? Also from the benchmarks on the 8800GT OC is almost as fast if not faster in some of the benchmarks compared to the 8800GTX.

The 8800GTS G92 can be overclocked to become competitive with the 9800GTX.

I own both an EVGA 8800GT SSC and an EVGA 8800GTS 512, and I can say from personal experience: Get the GTS!!!

The fan on the GT is just f@cking annoying! When it spins up, it makes this incredibly loud high-pitched whine that I can hear even while playing a game with the volume cranked up. Despite the noise, it barely keeps the GPU cool enough, and in certain games, I get artifacts, lock-ups, and even crashes, and all this without ever having overclocked the card.

The GTS on the other hand comes with a much better cooler and bigger fan, and is barely audible even at full speed. Even when overclocked, it has yet to produce the same stability problems the GT had.

Bottom line: the GTS draws a tiny bit more power, but is faster, more stable, and runs MUCH quieter and cooler than the GT.

GTS really isnt that much more - and for me it's more about noise and heat management than pure speed. I think newegg has 8800GTS at $200AR so for $20-30 worth it.

The GTS is $40 more, it totals to $225 shipped but thats for the MSI one. Would the EVGA one be any faster and is MSI good on their rebates? Would there be any reason to get the EVGA one for $245 over the MSI one for $225.

The cards will basically be the same. The main difference you are looking at is customer service and warranty support. To me it would be worth the $20 to go with the EVGA over the MSI.

Gaming @ 1680x1050 then 8800GTS would be such an easy choice.
It wasn't even much of a choice for me a month ago when I was shopping for a new card.
My net cost for a new card was in the sub $200 ($219 AR plus the Crysys game that came with the card, $30 value).
