It seems that there is a distortion around the text (in DOS/BIOS) and when run on lower resolutions in Windows.

Almost like a signal reflection on analog video however the shadow surrounds the characters.

Is this possibly the result of sub-par scaling since the 3007 does not support scaling on its own?

Also the scrolling speed when the system boots seems extremely slow.

In DOS a DIR scrolls lines like a 386 with a cheap ISA card! :Q

I can not answer you about the scaling part of the question since I do not own one neither I have heard of such an issue. If 3007FPW does not support scaling though on its own, then this could easily be a driver issue..Nvidia 880gtx drivers are far from stable and reliable right now, so you might want to wait a bit and see what happens with the new driver..
The slow boot and bios is a problem that the vast majority of 8800gtx users are facing. Don't worry there's nothing you can do for that for the time being but my guess is we will see a bios upgrade that will fix this..

which revision do you have MS Dawn

It's VERY slight and I notice everything. Still beats the pants off the random flicker that X1900XTX was throwing at me. :Q

Revision of 3007 or 8800?

The card is brand new. It was waiting for me yesterday on our un expected early return to NY. I thought X-mas came early. ;)

No this is a hardware issue as it looks like that in the BIOS. It's a very minor squawk but worth mentioning as I've never seen this with a DVI display. It looks like the fuzziness experienced with analogue displays when you crank up the rez and refresh. It's subtle but present. I don't know a lot about this hardware at the operating level but it seems like some features have been turned off for some reason.

Line drawing seems to be retarded in some strange fashion too. (I use the word retarded in a context of slow not the other way. ;) ) Ok a friend just IM'd me and said run the tests on pcpitstop.com and notice how slow the circle/line drawing is.

Other than that this board is fast! My copy of NFS Carbon hasn't been touched yet and I want to run it at 2560x1600. Games look so nice on this. The PS3 is already obsolete. LOL
