I am really looking forward to seeing how this card performs against RV670.

Geforce 8800GT will launch on the 29th and Nvidia will prove that it can ship the cards back to many etailers and retailers at the launch date. Do not be surprised if the 8800GT gets sold out soon after the launch as this is going to be a very sexy product and many will want to buy one.

Some people might hold their breath to see the Radeon HD 2950XT in action as it will cost roughly the same and it will launch about two weeks later, but Nvidia is walking on very solid ground with 8800 GT. This single slot card looks attractive and it should be quite fast as well.

We can confirm that the partners are making their own cards and that, at the same time, Nvidia is making reference cards for the ones who don't like to mess with Nvidia reference design. The boxes are being printed and the cards will be available at launch, on the 29th.

8800GT to be available at the launch

_______________________________________

We've learned a quite disturbing fact. The soon to be launched, Geforce 8800GT won?t feature support for the upcoming Triple SLI.

This will be a feature reserved only for the high-end cards but we have confirmed a few details for the this and will follow up on this one as soon as we can. It looks like Triple SLI will be a high-end card feature only and it won?t work on slower cards.

You will need a new 780i chipset to get Triple SLI operational and this chipset comes in November.

8800 GT cannot do triple SLI

As the 8800 GT launch date draws near, more and more info about Nvidia's new mainstream powerhouse is beginning to surface.

Tomshardware.tw got hold of an 8800 GT with 512MB of GDDR3 memory and snapped a few close up photos of the GPU and memory chips.

The card uses 16 M x 32 Qimonda HYB18H512321 BF-10 GDDR3 memory chips running at 1000MHz on a 256 bit bus. Its PCB is 9 inches long, and the card is a single slot design. It uses a Cooler Master TM69 to chill the 37.5 mm x 37.5mm 65nm GPU clocked at 600MHz. The shaders run at 1500MHz.

According to the site most vendors plan to launch the 512MB version, followed later by a cheaper 256MB card.

Before we published "RV670 rival out - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT Global early exposure" to be published soon by the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT-related specifications and product appearance follows a briefing, then this will further demonstrate its GPU photographs and real as GDDR3 memory, and on a supplementary The article omitted relevant hardware specifications.

The GeForce 8800 GT board adopted the 10-storey G92P393 PCB production, length and height were 4.736,9.0-inch, single-card power demand of 110 W, but the PCI-Express X16 slot can only provide 75 W power, it needs an external 6 - PIN PCI-Express Power connector, if not boot using the link, warning will be issued faint buzzing sound, but the computer will not boot, occupying card positive Sing Slot radiator products for the Cooler Master TM69 (NVIDIA GeForce 6,7,8 series of public boards are used in this radiator products) , have three hot catheter design, mining 4 - PIN power connectors, cooling fans 1000 RPM rotational speed can be upgraded to 3200 RPM, the noise is 34 dB.

This board adopted eight of 16 M x 32 Qimonda (Qimonda) No. HYB18H512321 BF-10 GDDR3 memory to form 256 - bits 512MB capacity, single memory is PG-TFBGA-136 package, to 2.0 V voltage, RoHS norms, standards workers a frequency of 1.0 GHz, but only GeForce 8800 GT set to 900 MHz, perhaps reserved for users and vendors to work together overclocking space. GeForce 8800 GT on October 29 officially published, together various vendors are the first to use the 512 MB version of the card sales, and then will launch 8 x 32 M 256 MB version of the specifications.

GeForce 8800 GT video card carrying NVIO HDCP chip and the chip, as, D8P chip parts, mining 1148 - PIN FCBGA package, the size of 37.5 mm x 37.5mm, the core standard voltage is 1.05 V ± 10.5mV, set 600 clock work MHz, Shader Clock is 1,500 MHz. Now we have made on the card, the top is carrying G92-270-A2 version of a TSMC 65-nm process, the date of manufacture is 2007 the first 37 weeks.

Now NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT for the price, in accordance with different memory capacity is divided into $ 199 and 249 dollars, which is about NT 6,500 and 8,130 yuan.

Not really new news...But thought I would add it anyway[/b]

112 SP 8800 GTS Works w/ 96 SP 8800 GTS In SLI

Nvidia has send out a notice to their AICs making clear to them not to market the new GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB as a card featuring 112 SPs although this should be quite a good selling point. Instead, card partners can brand the card as special edition or OC edition ie. GeForce 8800 GTS OC Edition. The new 112 SP 8800 GTS will still work fine with the 96 SP 8800 GTS in SLI configuration. Nvidia stress that they will not offer 112 SP 8800 GTS in 320MB memory configurations.

3DMark 8800 GT vs 8800 Ultra comparison

I am back from the vacation that I never told you about! Hurray! I spent several awesome days playing the totally sweet games that are contained within the confines of the Orange Box and watching some movies that I meant to see earlier, but never did. Now it is news time!

I found this lovely thread over at the Hard|Forums just now. Apparently one of the persons at Expreview has decided to (join the Hard|Forums and) post some 8800 GT vs 8800 Ultra comparison data in English. According to the data provided, the 8800 GT trails the Ultra by only 17% in 3DMark06.

Don't know if real or fake, but here it is anyway.

8800GT Benchmarks

___________________________________________

Nvidia's original plan was to price the D8P/G92 at $ / ?299, but ATI?s aggressive pricing changed Nvidia?s mind. All the early adopters of 8800GT have to thank ATI for the 249 and 199 prices for these cards at launch.

We can now confirm that Geforce 8800GT will win against RV670XT, clocked at 825MHz with the DDR4 memory at 2400MHz. Nvidia?s chip is more powerful and faster in most of the games and synthetic benchmarks but at the same time the chip generates more heat, it's 65 nanometre and it is more expensive for Nvidia to make.

As a consumer you should not worry about these things but knowing how the new ATI thinks we can bet that RV670XT / PRO and GT will end up cheaper than Nvidia prices and this will be the way to fight Nvidia.

We also expect that ATI will make a big deal with its 55 nanometre support but we expect that a lot of press will burn ATI for the HD 3xx0 names if they decided to go down that path.

Geforce 8800GT is faster than RV670XT

Reference or overclocked

We found out that Geforce 8800GT comes in five possible variants and each variant has its 512MB and 256MB version.

The first, as you can imagine, is the reference design with 600MHz core and 1800MHz memory clock. The 256MB version of this card will have the memory working at 1400MHz.

The second is the reference design + SPOC, Shader Processor Overclocking and it work's with the same clocks as the reference but with faster Shader. It was not specified what should be the Shader speed but this is up to AIB's.

The third kit is called Cost down $14 +SPOC and as you can imagine the Shaders are still overclocked, the GPU and memory are the same but they all can be overclocked. This is an 8 layer PCB board.

The fourth SKU is the scary one, it is called Cost Down more than $14 +SPOC and this card comes with 6 layer PCB and 256MHz memory at 1400MHz only. This is certainly the cheapest card from this generation.

The last but not the least is simply called Native HDMI and it comes as the 512MB or 256MHz part and you can get the picture what is the focus of this card.

The launch is scheduled for Monday the 29th as we said back at the beginning of the month here and here.

8800GT has 9 possible variations

600/1,500/1,800MHz is just the beginning

We've learned that Nvidia's 65 nanometer part known as D8P/G92, or now commercially as Geforce 8800GT, will be very overclockable.

Nvidia claims that there is a lot of space to overclock both the GPU and Shaders and it looks that 1,500MHz for Shaders is just the beginning. Many of the usual suspects will introduce their overclocked cards as this is the only way to differentiate yourself from the others.

We don?t know the limit but Nvidia endorses many to overclock the Shaders and it even plans to support the Shader overclocking in the next version of Ntune.

One thing is certain, there will be a lot of introductions on Monday.

D8P/G92, 8800GT is very overclockable

Well i cant wait to see the benchies for that 512mb version, its looking promising but i doubt itll be faster than the current GTS cards although with a bit of overclocking it might kick its head right in.

I really need a new card for World in Conflict.

nVidia would be shooting themselves in the foot if the stock GT is better than a stock GTS. I cant see them doing that. I can see a GT overclocking up to a GTS though.

NVIDIA (it's all caps btw) doesn't compete with itself; it competes with ATI. There's really no point in keeping the GTS since it costs more to make and no longer commands the price premium.

What's the % of FUD to reality of a website like this? I'd really like to know. I mean, it's name is Fudzilla. That's like Godzilla, who if you will remember, was king of all the monsters. It's obvious that they are the kings of lies and FUD spreading.

You know what, you're right. I haven't had a nvidia card for years though, so I rarely ever visit their site. They must have changed it, because it used to be nVidia.

EDIT: actually, it was nVIDIA now that I look at the wayback machine.

all that means is that rv670 is going to be faster so it will be able to command the higher (price) ground. Same thing as 8800gtx vs 2900xt, the 2900xt had to be priced vs the gts instead b/c its performance was weaker. If the nvidia card is clearly better then ati will be forced to price rv670 lower.

We already know that they are replacing the GTS with a GTS+ that has 112 shaders enabled and that the GT will have 80 shaders enabled. The GT will be slightly slower than the current GTS unless it can clock significantly higher(not likely as it's still a G80 core, right?).

Wow, you are pretty behind the times. G92 112sp@600/1500/1800 for $199-$249. 2950XT is 825/2400 and will be priced at $249.

Wouldnt it be great if a new Kyro card was in the pipeline to really kick ATI in the knackers.
id love to see an advanced version of Tile based rendering :)

lol they are trying really hard to steal ATI's thunder... I am guessing there are going to be problems with the new NVIDIA cards as it seems to be a rushed release. At least we have some competition again.

yeah, it's amazing to me that nvidia was able to dominate for so long yet they couldn't figure out a way to come out with a decent mid-range card in a timely manner (ie, much earlier than ati like their most recent releases have been).

You and me both my friend. I have no problem selling off my 7900GS to help pay for this bad boy if those prices are correct. I would easily get at least 2x the performance and DX10 isn't too bad either :D

I think that is going to be the case. 112sp vs 96sp and 65nm vs 90nm manufacturing process will most likely give 8800GT and it's standard 600 core clock A LOT of head room. At least that is my hope!!!
