8800 GT died... need a new card for around $100

have you tried cooking the 8800GT? my friend was able to bring back an 8800GT from the dead on an oven toaster about 10 mins on 200 degrees... the card was back to its normal self =)

Hey OP, can we get a picture of your card with all the stuff melted off? That could be pretty interesting to look at.

Also sorry I didn't give you a link for proper card baking...

lol keep bringing up the painful memory. i trashed it, nothing really melted except the stuff that fell off when the adhesive melted...

nah i'll probably pay a little bit more for a better card. the 8800GT struggled with a lot of the games i bought recently.

If you don't want to get your room excessively hot and have better performance than the 8800 GT the HD 5750 might be a possibility. No, its not quite as fast as an HD 4870 or HD 5770, but it is going to dump less heat into your room.
